In 2006 Shell started an outlet in Pallikaranai in Chennai. I was a regular customer for my Indica. There was always Q in the bulk. Then the price variation went around Rs.8, when compared with other bulk. Just for 1 to 2 kms of mileage 8 Rs is too much and I migrated to Indian oil. Till then not only myself but the Q also disappeared. Now I don't know what happens there.

Shell bunk cheating?

My friend has a Getz CRDI and filled the tank yesterday at Shell Binaganahalli in Old Madras Road Bangalore and it took 46.58L. Tank capacity is 45Ltr as per Hyundai. He is very sure there should have been approximately more than 5ltrs or diesel.
So taken the count 5lrt + 46.58ltr = 51.58Ltr in 45ltr tank?

@Arvind, did you friend top up, right up to the cap ?

I see this all the time on my Ikon. Tank capacity is supposed to be 42L, but it keeps drinking upto 45+. Irrespective of the bunk.

If you fill upto the brim then you can put in an extra 3-4 liters depends on the type of vehicle.

Once the fuel tank is full the extra fuel find its space in the pipe/ hose connecting the fuel tank and the filling nozzle. Thats how you you squeeze in extra fuel more than what is specified.

Then you should suspect the petrol bunk readings.

I generally go for shell don't have to face such hassles, like short-filling , tampered meters and diversion tactics etc

Essar diesel

Does anyone know if the Essar diesel quality is as good as Shell? I've been using Shell regularly in Hyd, but they sell at Rs.40/ltr, a good Rs.4 above PSUs. Surprisingly Essar is selling at Rs.36 too and have opened a new bunk in the heart of Financial district (next to CapGemini) at Gachibowli.

I've seen a few Essar bunks in Karnataka, even in some remote places like NRPura nr Shimoga.

Can someone tell me about the quality of fuel?

Thanks

Shell sources its petrol from MRPL Mangalore, Since Bangalore is nearest compared to Pune or Hyderabad, its cheaper.

Petrol rate of Govt owned company is one of the highest in Karnataka compared to other places in india, I am happy atleast we have lesser rate for shell compared to any other place.
