On my recent long drive, i filled my M800tank with unleaded Shell fuel and to my surprise i got an overall mileage of 22.5 whereas i used to get 21 with other fuel stations (IO, BP, HP). Filling in Shell does make a difference in mileage during long drives.

The difference in price is justified after you tank up with Shell and take the car out on a spin. I went to Hyd recently and topped up with Shell petrol. Engine did not let me know I was going way above 1xx Ahem!!. Later on the way I filled something other than Shell and the car was tearing its lungs apart at around 120. I will pay the premium for Shell fuel. Yes I'm a big fan.

Shell Petrol price is as below in Chennai :

Petrol Unleaded - Rs. 53.95
Petrol Premium - Rs. 55.65
Diesel - Rs. 39.95

There is a price difference of Rs, 5 when compared to PSU bunks !

Must be due to transportation costs. I think Shell sources the fuel from Mangalore refinery, from where it is piped to Bangalore. From there it has to be transported by tankers to Chennai.

Filled Shell Super today for the first time in my Alto. Filled the Tank to the brim.
Here in Pune, Shell Super costs 54.95 and normal Shell unleaded Petrol costs 53.xx.
Have been a loyal HP Power user till now. Thought of giving Shell a try as have heard many good things about it, even though it comes at a premium.

Am thinking of switching to Shell Normal Petrol from next time and will fill Shell Super once in a while, say every alternate month. Is this a good practice?

Deterioration in service

I have been tanking up my cars from Shell's Bommanahali outlet in Bangalore for the last two years. Over the last six months I had noticed a steady deterioration in their service. Wind shield wash which was once default was only provided if you ask for it. Today, while refueling from Shell the auto cut-off did not work and some fuel spilled out from the tank. When I quizzed the attendant, I was told that the nozzle was faulty. Since their current service is at the levels of any PSU fuel pump in the neighborhood , I do not think their premium price is worth it any longer.

An update on the above issue. I had given given a feedback to Shell India through their web page and within a few days I got a call from their Bommanhalli outlet. The person at the outlet mentioned that the nozzle issue was fixed and their staff is being properly trained and requested me to visit the outlet again.
