Shell,Is that worth it

yesterday morning @Bangalore i filled normal petrol from a BP bunk for 53.xx and evening filled petrol from shell @ 56.9x .I find Shell petrol is good when compared to others and its a peace of mind to fill petrol from them but is it worth to pay ~3 Rs extra for a liter of liquid gold??? Last time too i had to forcefully discontinue using shell petrol when the difference rose to 3rs more then other petrol. later when then corrected the price i was happily using shell and not i guess its time to think again.

I filled Shell super unleaded yesterday @ Rs 59.29 per litre. That is almost Rs 5.00 more expensive than HP Power. I had filled the same fuel just a few days earlier for Rs 58.xx. To be fair, the girl told me the new rate before filling.

I still go to Shell only because the car is not my daily ride and I love the smoothness of the engine with this fuel. My daily ride is the Splendor and with FE of > 63 KMPL, the peace of mind factor still out weighs the pinch on the pocket!

Shello Diesel prices

Just wanted to share the agony of filling up Shell Diesel.

Mar 3rd it was 43.XX while March 7th it is 44.xx. I know that Shell Diesel is the best brew my CRDi can get but I am not sure how long can I keep my ride pampered

I don't expect the barrel prices to head south in the near future

Yet to decide when I will call it a day and line up outside PSU bunks

Chennai I filled up on Mar 6th for 42.XX.

I get upto 1 km more when I fill shell and the engine is just super quiet when filled with Shell Diesel

Cheers

Sateesh

Early Closing of Shell Pumps

Last evening at about 2030 I went to the Brookefields Shell outlet, only to find it closed.

Then I went to Mahadevapura Shell outlet at about 2040 and found that it too was closed.

Already was an amber + 55 kms

Then I went to OMR and filled Super Unleaded full tank - I don't remember the cost.

Guy at the pump told me that many Shell outlets are closing early due to reduced sales - Just FYI.

As people have indicated, its peace of mind, customer service that has been prompting me for Shell.
But at 57.84/59.29 its time to searh back the PSU bunks.
Is there a separate threads on best/ worst bunk discussion?

While driving back from airport I filled petrol from Shell near Bytarayanapura around 1145 pm at Rs.55.90 per litre. Is it same in proper city limits?

IMO Shell petrol is not worth the extra 3 - 4 Rs, I used to go there when they had the same price as the PSU bunks.
I didn't find any significant difference in the oil quality of Shell & other bunks.

Now, I refill at Mats Fuel park (HP) next to Cosmos Mall, Brookefields, good service & oil at regular price.

I did this simple calculation. I filled for Rs 1000

Shell Super - 59.29 per litre - I get 16.87 litres. I was able to run 240 kms till my Fill light lit up. My FE is 14.2 kmpl

BP Ordinary petrol - 51.25 Per litre. I get 19.51 litres. I was able to run 256 kms. My FE is 13.1 kmpl.

For my kind of riding, Shell is not worth the extra money. I can drive more just with ordinary petrol with the same money.

This is purely from my own personal experience.

What matters is the Quality and Quantity and not the brand

I prefer(used to) Shell because i dont have the headache of searching for who is good and who is bad

But my previous experiment with Indianoil(reputed pump) proves that if the pump is good, Quality will definitely be good

I get less petrol at Shell (super unleaded) for the same money, but cover more distance (as compared to HP Power), so it is definitely the better fuel. An added bonus will be the extra cleanliness and smoothness of the engine. A win-win surely!
