A couple of days ago, I heard from a Honda dealer that Accord gets 20K cash discount and CR-V gets 30K. I think this is valid till end of Oct.

Pls. find enclosed the Sep 2009 sales figures. Sorry for being late this month (delay in publishing of official data).

1. Civic has broken its 26 mth record of declines, which is presently held by Aveo (28 mths).
2. Look at the serious decline in Maruti's share.
3. Jazz not in favour.
4. Camry's figures must be a record (???)
5. BMW/Merc selling more
6. UV business picking up because of commercial IT business.

yep the figures are out really late this month, I guess most of the discussions about various segments are already done and over with in the first fortnight of the month.

What would this time be interesting would be post prediciting brand and model wise sales growth / decline for the top 20-30 vehicles in this month (festival month) - with reasons for each figure.

Can we get it correct without offical figures?

Vasudeva, what is Maruti's market share now? My connection is blocking the attachment.

Market share of Maruti has reduced from 49% to 42.7%. However, even though the sales of Maruti has gone up, it has not matched the growth of the market.

i.e, The market has grown by 22% starting from Jan 09, but Maruti has only grown by 7% starting from Jan 09

42.7% in 9/2009, compared with 46% in 8/2009, and as high as 50% in 5/2009.

This can be partly attributed to Maruti's production capacity as well. With waiting periods as long as two months for two of their key models (Ritz and Swift Petrols) it is quite likely that customers who would have bought them otherwise would have looked for alternatives. And apart form that, with growing competition it is unlikely that Maruti will be able to hold on to such a huge market share for long. With the coming of VW and Ford in the small car space it is likely to shrink a little further.

Thanks Vasudeva:

A basic question - how do we explain the differences between Karpusv's figures (which shows sales by brand) and this sheet?

For instance Skoda's Superb shows a figure of only 21 in this sheet but the sheet sent by Karpusv shows 257.

Similarly Camry (assume that is what sales for Toyota in the "4701 - 5000" category means) shows sales of 257 in this sheet but Karpusv's sheet says 23.

Cheers,

Dear Vasudeva,

I really appreciate your efforts in posting the sales figures.

But i believe the indepth modelwise details posted by Karpusv is the original. There is no chance of camry selling more than 257 !

I have one more suggestion. Why dont you and Karpusv together join in posting details. it makes an fantastic combo!

Karpusv are you listening ??? this not only helps people to see figures and decide, it also creates to know the excitement happening in indian car industry. And we here at team bhp are always waiting for some excitement to happen, my it be spy pics, or sales figures or ownership reports etc

Camry and Superb numbers seem to be erroneously swapped in the excel sheet.

Record Car sale- Diwali 2009.

On Dhanteras, over 25,000 cars were delivered; Maruti alone delivered 8,000 cars.

This is the highest recorded sale in the Indian car scene. Presume our bhpians would have taken delivery too.
