Thanks for that! Drove it and had the inspection down from VW and car is mint without accident history! Owner apparently moving by to a bigger SUV! Picked it up considering this could well be kept as a second car too when we migrate to an EV SUV in future!

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I own a pre-owned 2011 Honda City SMT, has done close to 80K and it's in immaculate condition, after 10 long years of hassle-free ownership I was looking for an upgrade.
Came across 2019 Jeep Compass 4x4 limited plus MT, second owner, 51k on the odo, being quoted 19 lakhs by the dealer.
What do you guys think would be a fair price for this Compass?
I'm thinking around 15 lakhs?

15 is probably too low for Bangalore and 19 is definitely too high for a 51k run Compass. The downside here is that it’s 4x4 with high ODO reading. If possible look for a lower run car as you don’t know how the previous owner used the 4x4 hardware.

Realistically speaking, 17-18l will be a fair deal due to lack of good used Compass cars on the market. It also depends on how eager you are to buy a Compass right now. But, only after you check the car in person and get it inspected.

I had personally looked at this Compass when it was with the owner. But moved on due to some other reasons.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Someone booked the Endeavour before I could even go visit it. Oh well, I should have guessed a low run Endeavour would be a hot product.

Anyways, I found a white 2020 Volvo XC60 diesel that has done around 30k kms going for around 57l. It's under warranty till November and I believe it can be extended for 3 more years. I always had a soft spot for Volvos so considering stretching the budget and going for it.

I am planning to upgrade my Xuv-500 to Xuv-700. What would be a fair price for a Oct 2014 ,W6 Diesel/Manual. The car has run 1,10,000 km . Should I exchange or sell on Auto portals.

Explore all avenues. Start with exchange value offered by Mahindra dealer to get an idea. Then go to your ASS or FNG to get a lump sum idea. Now laden with knowledge go to company owned second hand dealer and negotiate the price. Finally with all the knowledge put your car online to check whether you find any customer or not. Sell whoever offers the best price or less headache. Anything near or above 6 lakhs seems to be a good price.

Did you buy it? If not, what else are you going for?

Definitely will do a thorough inspection before committing, my only worry is high mileage, 51k for a 3-year-old car + second owner. There are hardly any 4x4's available in the market considering their low sales figure.
I'm in no hurry as of now, can wait for another 4-5 months, hopefully, by then new-gen compass would have hit the seconds market and I could bargain further on older-gen models and hopefully find a decent 4x4 Compass.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Upgrading from a Honda City(Petrol, V MT):

1- Have found a 26k run, December 2018 make Hyundai Elantra SX AT(P) listed for 13.12L in Spinny. New one costs around 23L in Bengaluru. Does the price sound reasonable provided everything else checks out?

2- A 46k run, March 2014 make Hyundai Santa Fe(4WD) is listed on OLX by one of the Hyundai pre owned showroom for 14.95L. This comes with 1 year warranty on engine and gearbox and also 3 free services at Hyundai ASC.

I am a bit confused in the two. Elantra is new, feature packed, Santa Fe is from a segment above, has 2 extra seats but already crossed 8 years.

Is the price asked seems fair for the two.

Elantra price is well below the typical Bangalore used car price. You may want to check why "Front Bumper,Rear Bumper,Left running board,Left Front Door and Left fender are Repainted".

Isn't 62L the ex-showroom on a new XC 60? So you're factoring in only a 10% depreciation on a 2-year-old car? Plus you would be spending a few extra L's to extend the warranty to 3 years? Why not just consider spending a few more and just buy brand new? 0 miles and full warranty. Just my 2 cents.

Look at value in OBV. Base on condition, you can offer 10% more or less.

Sadly it costs around 80l onroad here and diesels are not being sold anymore. I wouldn't mind buying the new one if I actually only had to pay 62l
