re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

If you want Corolla build quality and safety VW / Skoda / Ford are your best bets. Of these Ford has the most reliable / cheap service.

Cannot agree any more. From my experience, I used this tool but never got any convergence between market value and actual quoted value. I tried multiple cars of various year manufacturing and multiple times negotiation. The inaccuracy is in the order of 2 lakhs average.

I think it learn the algorithm(Machine learning) to calculate the actual values by taking actual data figures from the users (Genuine ones). This is the most accurate way of nearing the accuracy. Else, it is just theoretical.

Thanks @hserus and @gkveda. I think the choices are then Ford aspire or Ecosport. Aspire seems to be a lighter build than traditional Ford sturdy cars. Ecosport seems to be the only option which is well built and also cheap to maintain.

I'm thinking more about continuing with the Corolla Altis and see if I become accustomed to the slow moving traffic.

You might consider working with your boss to approve coming in very early and leaving early too. So you will miss the worst of the rush hour traffic. Or there’s always staff buses, Uber etc for your office commute.

re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Don't know if this is the right place to ask. I have a used 2006 Dec make Honda city zx CVT which I'm planning to sell. I am the second owner. I'm being told that green tax is abolished and after 15 years the car will have to be scrapped or sent to a smaller city with lower pollution norms. The car at present is 12 years old. Is this true, if so it will be a roadblock in getting a decent price for the car which is decently maintained. I expected to begin negotiatios from 1.7 lakhs onwards. Any advice / suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

Hi Guys,

How much should I pay for a 2010 Diesel i20 Asta (o) Sunroof model with 50,000 kms on the Odo?

The dealer is asking for 4 lakhs in Mumbai while Obv shows numbers around 3 lakhs.

Please advice.

Whats he exchange quote he is getting from True Value? Amaze is not a particularly fast moving car in the used car market, he will lose atleast 40% of the on-road value for a 3 year old car.

I think 3.3L is more than a fair price. But, just 50k kms for an 8 year old diesel car seems too good to be true.

Thanks, 2000rpm.
TrueValue quoted 4L without even looking at the car.
Honda AutoTerrace quoted 4L+.

He is getting direct offers of 5L from olx, which seems like a much better deal & inline with your 30% depreciation comment. Thanks again.

re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I have been searching for a used car near about 1.5L for my elderly uncle and aunt. It will primarily be used for trips to/from the hospital. They are not fussy about what car it is, and want the cheapest and reliable car with low running costs.

I am struggling to get cars manufactured 2012 onwards around 1.5L mark - am excluding Chevrolet from this list.

Today I saw this SX4 ad. It is older than I would prefer, and slightly more expensive too. Positives are that it seems well maintained, and is a Vxi.

Please advise should I pursue or instead opt for Alto/Estilo/WagonR and the like (it sounds more sensible to do that, but I wanted a rain check). If anyone has any leads of these models in Kolkata around 1.5L-1.8L post 2012 and decently maintained, please do ping. Would prefer Lxi and above and not the base model. Thanks.

Elderly folks and trips to/from the hospital, for this two reasons alone i would suggest you the Wagon R. Comfortable ingress egress and easy to drive around the city. They will also appreciate the high riding position and Soft suspension

You should be able to get a 2011 model for 2 lakhs

re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I managed to sell my 4 year old Nano LX CNG for Rs. 1.10 lakhs.
I bought it after just one year of ownership with previous owner and used it for total 41,000 KM (out of which only 2,000 KM were run by first owner).
I bought it for 1.95 lakhs.

I thoroughly enjoyed my ownership.
Total VFM product, server my purpose very well.

Had quoted 2.5 back then for which the seller wasn't keen on letting go.

Incidentally, got a call back from the seller a few days back now offering it at 2.8. Have stuck to my initial offer price and he's said the lowest he would go would be 2.6.

Suggest don't go for SX 4 (discontinued model) for elderly. My preference will be any hatchback model which will be convenient and comfortable for them to handle and park, especially in busy areas like Hospitals.
