Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Volkswagen Vento Petrol 1.6 manual, 2013 model. Run 56000 kilometres. What should be a good price. Seller is asking for 3.5 lac.

No TSI, no DSG and no diesel engine. Would this result in peaceful German ownership?

This car would be a replacement to our Altis, and would be owned for a very long time.

Before I could take the test drive, the car was picked up by someone for 6.6. As per the dealer they took it to the showroom, checked the car history and then took it

Dont know what is the reason for change.

A vento is a downgrade on all aspects from an Altis. A big one on the reliability parameter.

The price is fairly high for a 2013 model (hope its a Highline atleast).

Yep! They're quite expensive and def out of our budget of 2.5L. What other good sedan can you suggest?

Would have loved to pick up the car but my mother's friend wouldn't budge. She didn't want to sell the car to her friends or family. I can understand her point. She ended up selling it to the Cars24 guys and paid a 18% GST on it. Now we're looking for a Honda City of 2010-11 within a budget of 2.5L

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I am looking for a used brio which would be used as second car by me or my wife. I have searched online and found a owner post asking for a 2.75 for 2012 smt model. The car has done around 59k on odometer.
Now here is my delimna regarding price. On checking with orange book value, the max quote for excellent maintained car comes out around 2.1.

So can anyone share their thoughts on what should be the fair price

Did you check the other sites like old, droom and other classifieds? That might give you a better idea of the range in which you can expect to pay. OBV by no means is more than a guideline. And you might be also able to negotiate better with him knowing the price beyond which you can walk away.

Coming back to your question though - think a premium of 25k max is ok if you really like the condition of the car in person but definitely not 65k for a car that's not in production anymore.

I think most people just about to ask for anything on OLX, the prices quoted are highly unrealistic. Best bet is to look on multiple platforms.

In NCR you should be able to get one for 2-2.25 lakhs in decent condition.

On OLX, people keep a substantial margin to compensate for ultra-low offers thrown by some buyers. So the guy asking 2.75 lakhs might be willing to let it go for 2.3-2.4 lakhs as well. IIRC this variant used to cost 5.5-5.6 lakhs around that time. Factor in that you'll miss out on airbags which are a standard feature in most modern cars now and I guess something around 2 lakhs would be an ideal price.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I did check on other platforms like cars24, droom, carwale etc. There are few brio's on these platforms ranging from 2.5 till 4.4 lakhs (the highest one was 2013-14 VX AT) . There are some other examples from dealers who quote north of 3 lakhs.
But all these examples are dated and done quite a bit on milage part.

Reason -

1. My family has now started feeling the Altis "too big" (we never drive it in city).

2. My driving has become slower day by day. This, they think is the fault of the car. So, "the car is slow, sell it".

3. The upcoming BS VI norms. I believe this is a BS III.

So only reason number 3 above is a valid reason of thinking to sell her. We (5 + luggage) always use the car for outstation trips and it gives us great economies of scale.

Coming on the alternative, I would prefer a car with a big engine producing less power and more torque. In the C2 sedans (sedan for boot), I find only the Vento which can suit my liking. So considering it. The question with the Vento however is its reliability.

Can a Volkswagen without a turbo, without a DSG, without a diesel engine be reliable?

I was evaluating the Vento, did preliminary search on Team BHP and realized that the answer is NO. Lost of early batch Ventos has a lot of problems.

Someone who is used to a Toyota level reliability can only move to a Toyota or a Honda or maybe a Suzuki.

Volkswagen Polo 1.2L GT TSI : Official Review

What is a good ask price for a 2017 GT TSi in Blr with 11k done, Yoko 205 S drives and arm rest, no other mods, sparingly used? Car has extended warranty and road side assistance. Please suggest.

It should not more cost you more than 7.5L. Just be careful to buy one which is under warranty and then opt for extended warranty due to the DSG issue.

Re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

Need an advice, what will be a good price for a used Chevy Beat, 2012 Model, Diesel with apx 1 lac kms on the Odo?

The car has been owned by someone I closely know, and the person is looking to sell it now. Out of those 1 lac, apx 2-3k kms are clocked by me alone, and also have been in the car for about 30k kms as a passenger distributed over all these years. The engine shows no sign of ageing till now, and since the car is owned by someone I closely know, gives a better confidence to own than other offers from total strangers. This is the biggest plus point of this deal. The car needs some nip and tuck repairs with a good general service and change of two tires (summing up to 15k apx) and is good to go.

Spoke to a Chevy Spares Network guy, he says the parts availability might be there till 2021-22 at least (though I'm taking it up with a pinch of salt)

The vehicle is aimed to be in use for max 2-3 people onboard, for a max tenure of 3-4 years, and a total running of some 20k kms TOTAL in 4 years, as there's another primary vehicle available. I know this running isn't in the diesel terrirory, but again the car has been mostly in front of me from the day of its purchase, so I can judge the condition of this car better than others.

My only question is why? Why not a used WagonR? 3-4yrs is a pretty long time so might as well spend a bit more and get something else that has seen less miles, is a petrol probably, can be kept longer if you change your mind and not defunct. I would probably not pay more than a 75k for it and that's purely based on my gut feel. I sold my well maintained Esteem that had half the miles on it for 2lacs.
