1. Is it the right price to pay for a 2012 model BMW 3 series.
2. Would it be heavy maintenance as I intend to drive this around 2000 km’s a month.
3. Was this a successful model as far as reliability is concerned.
4. This is going to be my first luxury car and I am overall afraid of the costs associated for maintenance and general upkeep of the car. Especially electricals.
Thoughts of experts
Check the steering rack. F30's and early F10's were notorious for steering issues. The whole rack assembly has to be changed which is quite expensive. Rest the car is pretty reliable.

Do you know if the rack has to be changed or whether it can be tightened by a specialist (as per youtube videos)?

2. Go through the car status on the idrive for all that's available on it, has a lot of data.
3. Spend those 8000-10000 bucks on a complete BMW diagnostic, it is worth it and very informative
4. Yes, it was a successful model and fairly reliable, have seen examples with greater than 125000 km doing good
5. Not the best car to do 2000km monthly because of upkeep costs
6. Car usually doesn't have a history of electrical failures, but suspension components would be expensive.

What would be the right price to pay for a 2015 E350 CDI with 50K on the clock, registered in Gurgaon? It's for sale as a Mercedes Certified car with 6 months warranty.
For reference, I know one of our forum members got the same car new for around 52-53 on road in Mumbai, and coupled with the NCR 10 year diesel ban, it should make for a tempting price, right?

It can be with a help of an expert mechanic (look for some trustworthy mechanic around your place before deciding). However, eventually it will give away and you will need to replace it.

Check for any noise from steering column over rough surface and if there is absolutely no noise, then I guess you are good to go for few years.

re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

A friend is looking to sell his 2012 Verna SX (O) top end variant with 6 airbags. The car has run 55000kms and he is 2nd owner. Insurance valid till Sept 2019 and battery and tires are relatively new. How much can he expect?
Cars24 has offered 2.7L which seems too low. OBV is higher at 3.75-4L and similar cars are being quoted 4.5 to 5.5L in online classifieds like olx and carwale.
Thanks in advance.

re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

3.6-3.7 would be a safe bet. Relatively less given he's second owner.

Cars 24 or any other used car dealer, company assured salesman etc will be looking to unload it at 3.7 after buying it from your friend for a lakh cheaper.

Carwale rates are quoted by dealers who will expect to come down by 50-75k in bargaining.

So look at all that information, average cars 24 vs carwale and figure out a fair rate.

Hi Ananth, did your colleague sell your car? what was the final price he got?

I'm also owning a 2016 pre-facelift Xcent (SX(O) petrol) run for 12K kms and I'm contemplating selling it off and go for an AT.

re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

I am in the market for a low run Toyota Etios (Petrol)for my BIL. There is one with Toyota UTrust/certified VX-2015 model with 20,xxx km odo reading. Being a certified car, it comes with 1 year Toyota warranty + a free service. The asking price is 5.80 Lakh. Does it make any sense to go for this?

P.S: He (BIL) is fine with 2011/12 models as his budget is around Rs 4.0L

re: The "USED" Car Price Check Thread

What would be a decent price for my 3 series F30 BMW 320D Dec 2015 prestige model with 20,000 on the ODO?

I am currently looking at the new X4. Heard that it is an incredible car to drive and will be getting a test drive soon.

I bought a May 2011 Etios G SP model with 44k on odo in pristine condition about 2 years back (before demonetisation) for 3.1 lakh. Currently you can get a clean Etios with around 50k odo for 2.5 lakh in Delhi from Olx. But cars in Delhi second hand market are much cheaper compared to other places in India. So imo you can get one for max 3.5L. Also, I believe you should prefer to buy directly from sellers via Olx etc and get an inspection done by Toyota on the car before you buy. Believe me, it will be 1200 bucks well spent. These cars have sound mechanicals so shouldn't be any issue in inspection for a average family car.

Overall 5.8 is a but too high imo. You can get a clean Altis V AT around 2011~12 for that money (Delhi) .

What would be a good price for the car ? He has sought my help in selling it. I would have bought it gladly but for the fact that my existing car and bike are already under utilised.
Is this the sunroof model or the one without sunroof?

He should get about 3.5 to 4 lakhs.

I had a short test drive of the 3L engine my personal observations were that in comfort mode there is a slight lag in response.... Steering too didn't weigh up as much as I'd like it to and on a practical note the rear headroom is almost nonsense due to the coupe roofline. Its super comfortable over patchy roads though. Is sports mode its a complete beast and very bumpy suspension. My TD was on a 6 lane highway FYI.think the new 3 might be better
