Can you post this on the main Polo test drive thread.
Poloman, try to catch hold of a copy of this edition. It details Turbolag in Punto after the upgrade. Even Punto has it.

Posting it in one place should be enough IMHO. Unnecessarily attracts attention of the mods. You can post a link if you want.

"Polo tops the list only in Front bumper. Going froward they may even reduce the pricing further once they achieve volumes."

Quality should also be compared - Right?

I really dont understand this going gaga over quality. Why are they not able to match the Japs in reliability after all this hullabaloo? Looks like they did not prepare themselves better. Ford and others have been able to do this very well. I never heard Toyota or Honda complaining about their suppliers either.
Like the studies done in U.S regarding the quality and reliability of spares, they are as good as the designs by the manufacturers themselves. In that case the suppliers were American and they did a better job when working for Japs than Americans.
After all this down the years we will know what it all amounts to.

Guys the Clutch and pressure plate Charges for Skoda Fabia Diesel are 10502 Vs VW Polo Diesel's 4090.

Any idea on such a huge price difference, considering both the cars get most of the parts commonly manufactured.(Any difference in Quality suspected ? )

Fabia Diesel engine/gear box is different from Polo Diesel engine/gear box. Polo has a brand new Tdi design. Fabia right now has a PD engine.

That is very sweet news. Now VW, please open more dealerships, atleast authorised workshops in tier 2 and 3 cities, so that us ruralfolk can also enjoy your cars.(we can really do all those tests you do in ads!)

Good one!!

But the actual fact is - It is just an-other piece of information to me. But, since I own a Polo, people take it in a wrong way.

In fact, to tell you frankly, as most Indians, I am a Fiat Fan! I am saying this because, we have all grown up seeing Fiat as a premium brand.

Hi folks,

Thought of compiling the dealers in India across cities. This would probably serve as another piece of information. We can also use this as a reference in future to see how VW has expanded in India.

VW exists in 37 cities with 43 dealerships.

Below is the list.

City name No of dealers in that city
Agra-------------------------------1
Ahmedabad------------------------1
Aurangabad------------------------1
Bangalore -------------------------3
Vadodara -------------------------1
Bhopal----------------------------1
Bhubaneswar----------------------1
Calicut----------------------------1
Chandigarh -----------------------1
Chennai---------------------------2
Cochin----------------------------1
Coimbatore------------------------1
Dehradun--------------------------1
Delhi -----------------------------3
Goa-------------------------------1
Gurgaon---------------------------1
Hyderabad-------------------------1
Indore-----------------------------1
Jaipur -----------------------------1
Jalandhar--------------------------1
Karnal-----------------------------1
Kolhapur---------------------------1
Kolkatta---------------------------1
Lucknow --------------------------1
Ludhiana --------------------------1
Madurai ---------------------------1
Mumbai----------------------------2
Nagpur----------------------------1
Nasik------------------------------1
Pune -----------------------------1
Raipur-----------------------------1
Rajkot ----------------------------1
Secunderabad ---------------------1
Surat------------------------------1
Thiruvanathapuram-----------------1
Vijayawada------------------------1
Visakhapatnam---------------------1

The information above is from the VW India website. If there is any thing missing, please update.

Couple of questions on the above:

1. How come the car didn't come with number plates?

When I took delivery of my Esteem many years ago it came with number plates.

1a. I also see a line item in the quote from the VW Dealer that says "Temporary Registration Rs 1,000 extra". Why would anyone want temporary registration?

2. How about sticking the number plate with plain ole Araldite? Would that work?

Thanks Vinay. With 1.6 Petrol Hatch and Vento added to the kitty, number of dealers will surely increase. Till now, the major concern for them was viability. Things will change.

Car does come with the number plate. That is, the dealer will fix it and give us. But he has to drill holes to fix it.

Temporary registration AFAIK is for people who want to take the car to another state for registration.

I think RTO rules do not permit us to stick the number plates.

Certainly. There is a big line up of launches for VW in near future. With 15000 KMs as service intervals, at least the workshops have good amount of time to gear up. At the moment VW will be happy if they don't find drivers like chetan (who clocks 5000 kms/month)

Already an update here. Thanks, arishi. so the stats are

Cities - 38, Dealers - 44

Forgive me for this off topic, but just an information if someone didn't know. Shell has not increased the fuel prices after the recent price hikes.
So the fuel cost is nearly same in all the bunks.

Premium Hutchbacks - Spare part prices.

I have compiled commonly used spare part prices of all premium hatchbacks. Data has been taken from AutoCarIndia - July Edition. Posting the same for reference.

Mods: This is not a scanned copy. I am posting this since I thought that the data is very important and interesting. If in case, you feel that this post is violating the rules of this forum, kindly delete it.

Thanks a lot Chetan! This makes it much easier to read. I hope this would clear people's doubt about VW being high on maintenance.
