How cheap is really cheap?
So you get various sizes over there, right from tiny ones to massive ones for trucks.
So I picked mine from that lot, Im attaching a picture to give a reference for the size, the Lumax ones are the ones above the bull bar in the advy. They have a metal casing at the back and aren't "plasticky". They took H3 bulbs.
The cost of the pair was 600 bucks. I bought the bulbs and a relay as well, price of that will vary according to the quality/brand you go for. I don't remember the bulbs I bought but all in all the total dough I dished out was just under 2k including installation. I had a spare switch with me so no cost there.

Re: Auxiliary Lamps

I want to install Hella Fog Lights on my Swift VDI, can you all guide me what would be the best way to put it ?

At present I dont have any bull bars on my car on which I can install, also I would like my bumper and the mesh grill not to be cut or in that case minimal cut.

Re: Auxiliary Lamps

My Zen with Neolite auxiliary lights.
Auxiliary Lamps-dsc_0954-2.jpg
They provide decent amount of light (lumens) on the road, But the distant throw is not very great. Probably I've to change the bulbs and see.

Defintely Very much Value for money. I paid 1000Rs (500 each) for both the lights with fitting extra

Shivanshu, do you want Fog lamps or aux lights ?
Your model should already have fog lamps. Also, fog lamps dont have much throw.

HID's will need ballast also. Have you planned for that ?
Hella 3003 / 3003 Compact should be good by itself. Sankar has used 3003 Compact's - see prev page for his post.
If you want HID lamps then go for HID lamps instead of modifying.

Already got the 3003.They are performing beautifully.
Regarding using the HID,I had installed a Hella comet 550 with a 55w HID in my Karizma till I sold the Bike.

Hi Sushrutha, your Zen looks really great with those aux lights, I am planning to go for a similar setup in my zen as well. As for the throw, changing the bulbs probably would not help you much because from what you've written the design of your reflector is for a 'spread' beam pattern and not a 'spot' beam. The spread beam will fill your view up ahead but won't have a good throw, the spot beam will do the exact opposite. Last time when I had gone to get aux lights from Lumax brand at a similar price, I had the option of choosing the kind of reflector design. I had opted for the 'spot' type.

Re: Auxiliary Lamps

Fog lamps & Aux lamps are for different purposes. Check the image post 137 in previous page of this thread, where I have posted one image.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...ml#post3655203

Though that image is from KC, the concept is applicable to head lamps / head lamp +aux lamps vs fog lamps

Here you go.About the price, they set me back 11k in total,a bit expensive but felt they are worth (Hellas as always). The first pic is only with the pilots ON of the Hella and the main headlights.

Re: Auxiliary Lamps

This is how I put 2 lights in my bullet. Total cost around rs 2500. Tapped from the pilot lamp and put an additional switch for control. No wires are cut.

It's been almost 18 months since I installed and UI use these lights around 5 hrs per week, no issues so far.

I agree on the difference between spot & spread beam lights, What I intended to say was to increase the lumens of the lights by changing the original bulbs with any other good h11 bulbs.
I have Lightforce 240 Blitz lamps (not using it & just kept them idle), which has an adjustment for SPOT , SPREAD beam & combination of both just by rotating the lamps either to left or right.
