Re: Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Guys I got my PPF done this week and I will share a detailed review in a few days. I used Ceramic Pro - Kavaca. I have a question: I see these weird formations on the PPF right from day 1. My detailer says this is just glue and will go away in a few days. Is this normal?

Also, sharing some pictures of the car (overall).

Looking to get my XUV700 done after delivery later this month. Any ideas on how much this would cost for the full car done with a good quality TPU that has a warranty of 5-7 years.

Have heard of Brotomotiv, anybody else?

Thanks
Yes, I am getting my new Harrier ceramic coated at Brotomotiv this weekend & will share my experience. I would suggest you check the PPF packages with them & take a call.

Btw, congrats on your new car / XUV700.

Not very clear from the pic - but looks like just the trapped water underneath? If so - it will heal under sunlight.

What was the cost? Also Kavaca is TPH or TPU?

I was told its TPU. They charged me around 50K for (i) front bumper, (ii) front fenders, (iii) bonnet, and (iv) side mirrors.

It sure is expensive ~ INR 750 per sqft.

I will update the thread with details in a few days. Preparing for the Himalayas.

EDIT: oh and I forgot to mention. It’s self-healing.

Mixed feedback from few people I know. You can try Feynlab right next to them at 7760704344. I've heard very good reviews about them.

That’s definitely not normal, wait 2-3 days and take it back to the shop and have them fix it. Too much heat will do this if a heat gun was used during application (sometimes shops do use it even though normal application doesn’t strictly need it).

Yeah, those are glue marks and they won't go away. Get that part replaced from them. This happens when they set the film and then have to lift it again for some reason (either the film wasnt setting or they found some dust or something and had to lift the film after it was squeegeed on) and then reset it.

This is not normal and IMHO this won’t heal.
These hairline marks occur when the film is stretched. And they will stay as it is, you should ask the detailer to replace the affected panels.

Thanks guys. I am holding back on a full review till this is corrected by the detailer. He has rest assured that it will be replaced once he sees it. I will visit him next weekend. Let’s see how it goes.

Re: Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Hi All

I am soon expecting delivery of my new car but am torn between choosing PPF vs Ceramic coating, given the good and not-so-good range of experiences shared. Thinking of taking the plunge but hesitant as quality of workmanship and reliability are key and I don’t have any direct leads. Not sure if getting this done through the dealer makes it any more reliable. Will appreciate some leads or first hand references of good quality installers / service providers in Mumbai.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Paint Protection Film (PPF)

A lot of the questions I have, have already been answered earlier but I just needed some help with more updated answers on the same.

I am getting my ZS EV Exclusive soon. I had the following questions on PPF

1. Anyone has an updated list of value for money PPF installation workshops in Delhi NCR?
2. What is the average cost I can expect for my car
3. Will ceramic coating post ppf recommended?
4. Is self application of ceramic coating a strict no no?

Congrats on the new buy Ankit...happy miles ahead! Here's my quick take on 3 of the 4 queries you posted:

1. Check with Dapneet Singh (owner) Galaxy Car Care in Mayapuri. I got my car done 2.5 years back. Good job plus 2/3 year detailing package comes complimentary with full body PPF. Got it done for 2 of my friends as well - Sonnet and Seltos, both black.

2. 60k perhaps. 3M may cost you about 1.20 lacs

3. Ceramic is not required over a PPF. Weekly washing and monthly waxing is all the beauty treatment it needs.

Keep driving!

Whatever you choose, please do 3 things (i) go with a reputed detailer, (ii) choose an expensive AND reputed brand like XPEL or something, and (iii) walk into the detailer's store and look for a PPF'ed car to see how the job was done. I am facing a few issues with my PPF newly done up last month. My detailer has asked me to wait for a few more days till its sorted. Will post a detailed report after that.

P.S: My detailer did a ceramic coating on the PPF.

Thanks Ajay!
Thank you both for the inputs. I have decided to go with Ceramic coating. Mainly because none of the applicators (galaxy car care) suggested applying ppf on the front grill of ZS EV, with its new pattern on the closed off grill. Galaxy definitely was the most value for money of all the ones I reached out to.
