Re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

Hey guys,

I'm facing a wired issue with the instrument console, after servicing the bike last week, the time travelled and average speed does not reset, even after 4 hours.

Don't get disappointed yet. I am seeing this kinda weird issue for the first time. The reading should reset when the ignition is turned off. Try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes by removing the negative terminal only. Reconnect the terminal and see if it helps. Keep your observations posted.

Cheers!

Anyone knows if the footpegs from the adventure model are a direct fit on the duke? I have a feeling they grip better.

Yes. They are direct fit. So are the adventure 390 crash guards.

Adv 390 footpeg in Duke 390.

Adv 390 crash guard in Duke 390. The owner did this mod after he was fed up of the screw breaking off from the stock crash guard. He says the screw no longer breaks off. Looking forward to do this mod on my bike as well.

Will the ADV 390 or 2nd gen Duke 390 engine foundation bolt be compatible with a 2014 Duke 390?

Re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

Upgraded the stock 82mm horn to 90mm horn.
I had 90mm stock horns of my car lying around after I upgraded my car horns. Turns out they are a direct fit in the 390. I installed the 90mm high tone. Satisfied with the result. An option for somone who wants to upgrade the stock horn and doesn't want the ugly looks of mounting horns on crash bar.

I'm more worried about clamping something around a trellis frame where it's not designed to be clamped. Agreed it's non weight bearing.

But harmonics does weird (often nasty) things to metal.

Ask RE owners. Himalayan. 650 twins. Classic 350. All of them

Cheers, Doc

Thanks a lot buddy helped a lot, though i do find the Lluvia https://lluvia.in/product/ktm-duke-windshield/# better looking but this will work fine.

Re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

Hello guys,

Replaced my tyres to Michelin Road 5's a week back. My front tyre was a Apollo H1 alpha which I put in May last year and rear was a 4 year old Metz. The plan was to chage the rear tyre to Apollo in Feb.
Tyre costed me 16.5k.

Cheers
Dhruv Shetty.

Re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

Need advice on 2 used Duke 390's

#1
2021 June
12xx km run
Asking price was 3, brought it to 2.85 and paid advance.
Bike has a Lluvia windshield, Simtac flasher, and a Zana crashguard.
Bike was only washed at K-Force.
Owner was very genuine.
I found the quickshifter was a little jerky when the throttle was fully opened.
Bike is serviced by only one mechanic.
And, vibes at idle. I guess this is a Duke characteristic, so not bothered about this.

#2
2019 January
48xx km run
Asking price was 2.5 lacs. Owner wasnt budging below that. I offered him 2.3, but he simply didnt agree. Walked away.

But man the BS4 Duke is so so damn powerful. Scary power delivery. So much so that, my legs were kinda shivering after the spin I had. The other BS6 bike was much more mellow compared to this. This bike had insane vibes at high rpms. I revved it to 8-10k rpm at a traffic signal just to see how it sounded, but in turn I was gifted with crazy vibes on the footpeg.

Suggestions and advices are welcomed.

Very true, I ride a 2014duke 390 and it's mad, the original map is crazy and it's pure madness till the rev limit.
Compared to that the later edition of dukes with updated maps are very linear and mellow.
One of the prime reasons why I am hanging on to the bike.
The feeling of rush when riding it is just amazing.

My advice: WAIT. Both of these bikes cost too much for second hand 390s IMO. I am sure there is no shortage of 390s in the used market so look for a better deal and let those sellers make someone else the bakra

Re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

Hello everyone, have been following this thread since a long time, posting here with a query.

My BS6 Duke 390 is facing a peculiar issue. After a cold start, instead of idling normally the engine shuts off. Earlier, the motorcycle used to increase the engine's RPM on its own. But now sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't.

Recently had its Third Periodic Service done and changed its engine oil, they performed an ECU software update too but the issue remains.

Are you on the stock spark plug(s)? Also could be due to a faulty drop-switch / fuelling circuit. Or even a faulty side stand cut-off sensor. Try sitting on the bike, upright, with the side stand folded. Does the issue persist? Try recording a video.
