Thanks Rahul. I checked the manufacturing month by decoding VIN. It is July 2014

Congratulations gpriyesh. I'm planning to book mine tomorrow. Did the dealer offer reverse cam and side beading free? And 55K is the insurance part which is offered free, right?

Thanks Vivek and yes, they offered reverse cam and side beading free. Out of 55K, 35K is insurance, 10K is corporate discount and rest exchange bonus
These are part of the Onam discount package in Kerala.

What did they offer you?

All the best for your booking!!

Looks to be a good deal to me. Any free accessories? Is this insurance same across dealers. In my case there was a 10K difference in insurance between 2 dealers

Booked my Silver W8 yesterday. Like I said earlier, I was getting a 59k Insurance discount + 10k corporate discount. At the time of booking, I haggled a bit more. So he threw in a reverse parking camera + rear bumper free. Didn't expect him to relent but he did. Looks like I'll get delivery on Anant Chaturdashi, Sep 8th.

One problem that the dealer pointed out is that registration might be tough since we've newly moved into our house (couple of months). So none of the national address proof documents reflect the new address. He's saying we may have to shell out 8k to "convince" the RTO officer. Anybody has any view on that?

I think you can use bank statements or a letter from bank as address proof. I assume you have changed the address in your bank account. Passport office accepts it as address proof. No reason why RTO should not accept it. If you own the house, you can use the sale deed/registration documents in your name as address proof

Mumbai RTO Website says...

Any of the following documents can be used for Address proof:
1.Electoral roll/ voters I-card
2.Life insurance policy
3.Birth certificate
4.Passport
5.Civil surgeon's certificate

Hope you can get item 5, based on your rent agreement copy.

Hey gpriyesh, Firstly, Congratulations on your booking!

I wanted to check with you, I'm guessing yours is a W8. The deal offered to me for the W8 in Delhi is 15.70L. This price difference seems extremely steep! There are no discounts offered ( except for 30% off on the insurance)

I'm not sure If I'm missing something here

Hey SVP, Thanks. Yes mine is a W8. Price here is also 15.7L and all these discounts brought it down to 15.1L. Bargain hard. Do check with multiple dealers...There might be differences in their on road prices itself

All the best!

Re: Mahindra XUV500 : Test Drive & Review

I got the delivery of my Silver beast W8 yesterday. Drove 100+ Kms in the first day itself and I must say that I am loving every bit of it. Drive is so smooth and has all the features that you need. However did face some minor issues during the delivery at KTC Mahindra Kochi

1. When I did the PDI, odometer reading was 35. It would have run 30-40 kms after that for Registration. But when the car was delivered odometer read 1. That means they did a reset of the odometer. I feel that is not a right approach. Not sure if this is the way dealer delivers car or this is an instruction from Mahindra.

2. After I received the keys and the official unveiling cermony, my wife noticed minor scratches on the body. This was not there when I did my PDI couple of days back. They took it back to the service bay and did another round of polishing and rubbing. Some got rectified and couple of them (very minor still remain). I think these happened when service guys fixed the side step and rear guard.

3. I saw and inspected the car when it was in the delivery area and then they covered it infront of me and asked me to unveil it. I found it quite funny.

4. Fixed reverse cam, but cam is not showing up when I select the "Reverse cam" option in infotainment screen. It only works when the reverse gear is engaged. May they did not fit it properly

5. Checked all documents when I reached home and found that the kit in my car has the owners manual of W4 whereas I have a W8. Not sure if this is mistake from Mahindra or a mishap during PDI by the dealer.

Overall from what I have seen so far, I feel the service at KTC Mahindra Kochi has to improve. They have hired a new service manager now. Hopefully things will improve in coming days.

Apart from these minor hiccups I am quite happy with my car and the dealer KTC Mahindra

Congrats on your new purchase.
Reverse Cam works only when reverse gear is engaged and will not switch on when you select it from the infotainment system.

Thanks..
Oh...if did see in infotainment manual that reverse cam comes live when you select that through sys info without engaging reverse gear. If it comes live only through reverse gear, why is that option reverse cam in sys info
