+1.

From the threads regarding Grand Vitara and Kizhasi, looks like these cars are easier to maintain compared to some popular cars from FIAT, Skoda stables etc. I wouldn't worry too much about the engine being discontinued.

That said, I don't think it will get discontinued. Simply because Maruti doesn't have other options. Their own engine is a long time away, and future launches like the Vitara are dependant on this engine till then.

My belief is that Maruti will localize that 6 speed gearbox while continuing to import the engine as and when required.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

1.6 going to be discontinued???
I am not sure. In that case I ll have to rush through the process of TDs..
True value is not ready to evaluate my car as it is less than a year old. They say I ll have to pay additional VAT for transaction. (any thoughts)
Will call the RM and arrange a TD today. Seems like the 1.5 petrol is going to come soon and replace the 1.6. They will market it as a powerful engine capable of 11 sec 0-100.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

With my booking of 1.6 Delta 55 days old and no commitment by dealer instead he says its still uncertain and wanted me to change to 1.3. May be with this kind of things its better to settle for 1.3 ?

With S-cross launched last year and petrol engine is also taking too long.

Forget what the aam junta says.. An enthusiast would pick up a well maintained 1.6 eyes closed.
I absolutely agree. Indeed Ive kept saying this on this and other threads.

An enthusiast will certainly hunt for and buy it when it comes to resale.

Same thing happened in the case of the Chevy Forester, the Ford Fusion Plus and Im seeing it happen in the case of the Yeti too. The only difference you will see is a faster rate of sale, because it is a Diesel Maruti after all and with a super engine and good features!

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Guys can anyone do a quick comparison of Polo GT TDI and S-cross 1.6 with a view to safety, performance, ride quality, comfort and maintainence aspects for 6-7 years of ownership.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

I think the 1.6 stock will only get exhausted by end of 2016. So they aren't importing anything as of now.

Total import - 6000
Total sale till date - 4000
Left stock 2000

Assuming sale of 350 units per month.
Stock should last 5 - 6 months.

Assuming all consignment details available on zauba, total import till date below 4500. I have done my arithmatic

Therefore stock of engines nearly exhausted.

Ok, Let me put it precisely

Total Import - 5743
Total Sold till date - 3988 (Assuming 15% of total sale)

Balance stock- 1755

Average sale per month - 350

Stock can last 5 months.

Based on experience, total lead time to source the engine would be 2-3 months.

So, even if Maruti plans to procure more it would be around Aug 2016 only.

Would you like to quote the source? I am waiting for 55 days now with money in my hands. Dealer not able to deliver vehicle and not able to commit too. I am ready to wait for few months also. But no light at the end of tunnel! Thinking to change to 1.3 ! It seems after some time alpha would also become difficult to get.

Source is same as yours : Zauba.com

Problem is with Pasco not the 1.6 engine stock. Every other nexa can arrange a 1.6 here.
I have already shared the details of other Nexa dealer. They can get you the car in 2 weeks time.

Did you call them ?

I did not check buddy. But accessory manager told all Maruti alloys are made by Enkei.

Forgot to add about VIN. I could decode the VIN in S cross unlike Baleno. It is April 2016 manufactured . Last 2 characters are DG. Full digit VIN is present under hood. ODO showed 17 KM & car had reached dealer's yard today morning.

Accessories

1. Mats
2. Mud flaps
3. Illuminated door sills
4. Machine finished alloys (Brezza)

Total damage 30K

Found a picture of S cross with machine finished alloys of Brezza.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

I am going for the 1.6 Zeta. My dealer insists there are no discounts/freebies available--not even mud guards. Is there anyone in the forum who has brought the S-Cross in Gurgaon?

I will likely go for an HID conversion later, though I am a complete novice at this and don't know what to do. Ditto for a change to better wheels--likely around 30k-40k of driving.

Even I am not getting much discounts buddy. Dealer has offered only corporate discount of 10K.
