Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Hi all. I have just taken delivery of a sport MT 1.4 petrol compass. Will put a detailed buying and ownership experience soon. I just have a query. The dealership gave me an 'Essential information guide' and a quick start guide. In the guide it is mentioned that for service details refer to the 'sevice and warranty booklet'. On asking the dealership sales executive i was told that Jeep does not issue any separate service and warranty booklet. In that case how do i keep a record of the services done? He told me no customer is issued any service booklets. Can existing owners please confirm if this is indeed the case? Thanks.

Hi the Jeep life app has the service history as well. It gives the name of the service centre, Kms on which the servicing was done and also the total cost that was paid.

Whichever dealer it is, verify the VIN and do a proper PDI before doing the full payment. At times even the factory can send old stock.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

It’s been a week since I got the car back from KHT. This is the second time they kept the car for 3-4 days in the name of fixing rattling noise. All the noises remain.

This is not coming during any 4x4 expedition. It’s coming in simple city roads.

Front right dashboard
Rear doors - both near the tweeter.
Squeaking noise from the gear lever area.

That makes it about 5 months since I started living with this noise. Sorry.. I am an engineer too. It’s not a rocket science to fix such simple issues. Especially when I am able to reproduce the noise for the workshop folks during test runs.

Did anyone read about the divorce case due to the “snoring” noise? I am almost there!!

Same here.

Received only two physical documents - the Quick Start Guide, and the Essential Information Guide (basically the Owner's Manual). Neither has information regarding service interval, or which parts need to be changed at what intervals.

Thankfully, the copy of the Service and Warranty Booklet is available online, and has all the needed information. Attaching it here too for reference -

Not only is it disappointing to see such basic issues in a well-built car like the Compass, it is also quite surprising to note that Jeep India has not been able to resolve it for as many years now. From what I understand, this issue has been present in pre-facelift Compass as well, albeit not to the extent it is making its presence felt in the facelift ones. And then Jeep CEO worries about his low sale volumes in India

I am sure you would have tried escalating to Jeep India. Did they do anything other than pointing you back to the dealer(s)?

On a related note, waiting to see if similar issues are reported from Meridian and Compass Trailhawk.

Try to get the the KHT quote matched by PPS if you can. I took a Compass in October 2021 from KHT and their service is horrible.

1.They missed accessories during delivery.
2. Had to do multiple follow-ups after delivery for RC card, TCS deposit etc.
3. SA does not pick up calls after delivery.
3. Had an accident after one month unfortunately and they made false promises to get me additional zero depreciation claim from future generali. Stopped responding to my calls and I had to pay 20k from pocket because of this.
4. Both their service centers are horrible. Yeshwantpur one took almost 40 days to deliver they vehicle after accident repairs. Mahadevapura one asked me to come for first service where i clearly asked if I can take the vehicle back same day, after going there they told they will deliver next day. In the end had to take the vehicle back without it being washed and dirtier than before I gave it.
5. while in service center asked if i can give the engine oil during second service (I have been doing this with Maruti, hyundai,Kia etc. without problems) they denied and threaten that you will void your warranty if you do not buy engine oil from them...

All in all the service and attitude of the people in KHT is horrible. i would rather suggest PPS.

and Compass Trailhawk.
Jeep India has to really look into customer complaints and intervene to help fix issues rather than re-directing it to the same service center which you are unhappy with. They keep doing this and this reflects in the attitude with which the service centers talk and treat their customers, especially KHT. Let this server as a warning to any new customers who are considering buying from Jeep/KHT Prime.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Can you elaborate on this? I have opted for Jeep's platinum insurance package which has 2 permissible zero dep claims during the year. Did you pay 20k within your first two claims?

My sister made the booking with KHT yesterday, she gave a chance to PPS to match the quote, but the SA had become very unprofessional in the use of words on hearing her decision. Now, more than the 30k difference, this made us chose KHT.

We haven't owned a Jeep before but I am assuming like other brands it would be ok to use the service centre of PPS in future if KHT turns out to be incompetent. I hope there is no denial of service due to mismatch in service dealer and sales dealer.

I think I also have the same insurance package with all the bells and whistles from future generali, Which we took after much persuasion from KHT. Paid around 85k (IMO too expensive)for this. Hit a dog on the highway and had the front right bumper, radiator, intercooler got damaged and left rear tire cut. Future generali denied tire claim though we had tire damage add on, telling its not correlating and that they will process it as two separate claims. this will exhaust the two zero dep claims, I was not ready to do this as the car was month and half old and the renewal was 10 months away. Spoke to the SA & KHT insurance department, who then promised to get an additional zero dep claim from Future Generali, stopped responding to my calls after this, in the end has to pay for the tire using a non zero depreciation claim where the total I had to pay came close to 11k. I would strongly suggest you not to take future generali. Either go with other providers or take insurance from outside.

Sorry to hear this, I haven't interacted with PPS, i hoped they were better than KHT looks like they are equally bad.

I hope this doesn't affect their service.

Jeep India customer support is non existent. Any discussion gets promptly sent back to the dealer. In my case they got some Jeep technical team involved.
If product has fundamental issues, how can patch works help?

Worst part is, the entire service team struggled to find out where the noise is coming from. They dismantled the bonnet, dashboard and whatever else you can think of. I am no longer in the mood to get it fixed. Neither can I drive with this noise daily.

Started looking for other cars. It is simply not worth our time to fix a brand new car. Takes the fun away from the new car experience.

This is great information. I will check with them if they have options of other insurance providers, who too may have tie ups with Jeep. Again thanks a ton for sharing this. While I can understand that dents and bends in different parts of vehicle could be due to multiple accidents and the user not making a claim in time, thus insurance attributing it to multiple claims, but in your case, all aspects of the damage make the car almost unusable be it damaged radiator or tire cut. It is utter non-sense on their part to process these as separate claims specially on a 1.5 months old car. Reading this, I will suggest my sister to have a dash cam fitted.

To other users who have taken Jeep's platinum insurance, which insurance provider have you opted for and how has your claim experience been if any.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

I've run into a very strange issue with my 2 days old jeep. I had given the car to have a small bubble and paint issue on the front left plastic grill under the head lamp that I spotted during delivery repainted at the jeep workshop. When they got the car back I could see they had done a shoddy job by painting only half the plastic grill, resulting in slight shade difference. Not only that they had painted over unevenly buffed surfaces making more dents visible under newly applied paint. These were not even there before. so that got me to check the entire car and to my shock there I found numerous bubbled spots on the bonnet and the metal above the fenders. 2 days before I took delivery of the car I don't recall seeing any bubbles or dents anywhere in the stockyard. I had taken care to recheck the VIN number and the condition of the car before accepting the vehicle because earlier that day the vehicle allotted to me was given to someone else and I was allotted a new one reasons given that they were unaware that the first vehicle was already allotted to another customer by the SB ROAD branch. The VIN indicated manufacturing date as April 2022 same as the first vehicle and apart from a few white spots on the bonnet the paint looked perfectly fine. Is this due to insufficient drying time? or a local workshop paint job? Or is the jeep paint quality poor in general? The dealer has agreed to get all of this sorted and repainted but its kind of shocking to experience something like this in a brand new car. has anyone faced similar issues? Mine is the red colour.

I had the same issue with my car in the initial week as well, however the VIN worked post that. Not sure about Jeep life app not working for the sports variant
