Spare tire in Ertiga or XL6 was always below the car under the floor. To access this, all one needed was to loosen the hook, lower the frame holding the wheel and pull that spare out.

The spare tyre on XL6 and Ertiga are located below the body, not inside like other Marutis.

But yes looking at the CNG cylinder placement, the bolt will be a bit tougher to reach.

Otherwise they have done a good job of including the nozzle within fuel filler flap etc.

That was my point, there is no way you will be able to loosen the screw holding the spare wheel frame below. Unless they change the design itself for CNG fitted cars.

Re: Maruti XL6 : Official Review

After a long long wait, finally completed PDI of my new XL6 today. Hoping to get the car mid next week post RTO clearance. Hoping that lockdown eases out over the next few weeks and I get to drive around a bit in the new car.

Many congratulations. Your pics reminded me of my car's delivery last year, it was around the same time and season.

Wishing you many happy miles and I'm sure the car will serve you reliably for years to come. And before I forget, it looks gorgeous in red.

Regards,
Shashi

Congratulations Ravi!! I was looking for this post of yours and was wondering if you already took the delivery.

Wish you many happy miles with your new ride. What's its name?

Congrats!

From the short-geared steel wrecking ball to a relaxed cruiser, you've made a leap to another world. I can imagine you will enjoy your longer highway trips simply because of the easy cruise-ability on offer. Just remember to treat this one more gently than you're accustomed to treating your Tank!

And - having 6 seats is going to be a different proposition for your family. The 2nd row will be much in demand for sure; captain seats give one's passengers a feeling of exclusivity and better comfort compared to the usual bench seat.

Is Maruti planning to upgrade the existing model anytime in next 6 months?

Relaxing (and controllable) cruiser is the right phrase now for the occupants will still be relaxing comfortably belted on those captain seats whenever RJ in his cruising speeds maneuvers to cut lanes or take on the twists or brakes.

C'mon now! I remember RJ as someone who had graduated from a WagonR to TUV. Am sure the change in segment would have resulted in an equal change in the way he would drive the TUV as compared to the WagonR.

Especially when it comes to highway dynamics, the XL6 will behave just like any other neutral handler (Hatch or a Sedan) and that would be the biggest change which itself is going to make his long journeys even more comfortable to all at considerably faster cruising speeds. Not to forget a decent petrol that is silent than the diesels and better NVH levels. This will certainly be the USP with this change.

The Ground clearance has never been a negative at all for the XL6/Ertiga and that means bad roads won't need much thoughts to take on. Of course, here is where RJ needs to remember the fact that he is driving an MPV and not a ladder on frame vehicle (widely referred to as Tank here).

Congratulations on the acquisition! Wishing you unlimited safe, comfortable & happy miles with the spacious car. Excellent colour. I'd say this is one of the most uncommon shades of the XL6, at least in my part of the country. Haven't seen one on streets of Pune in this shade yet. Coincidently, my cousin also got his XL6 last week. His is the more commonly seen Nexa Blue. He replaced his SX4 with it & is enjoying the space & the convenience of an AT a lot!

Thanks parag for your inputs and wishes.

This is the critical change that I will need to keep in mind as I did drive the TUV like its meant to be and did not bother much about speed breakers and rough roads.

Thanks Reinhard. I did end up waiting a little longer because of the color but in the end, its worth it!

There are some posts that talk about the new 6 speed AT, which could make its way to the XL6 but no definite timelines. Given that the car was launched mid 2019, I would expect MSIL to launch an updated version around the 3 year mark.

Sir ji, I pretty much implied the same things that you've expanded upon!

Me: "Hey RJ, nice acquisition. You're getting a refined and sharp blade from the blunt & heavy sword you used to have."
Parag ji: "Ow c'mon! Not fair. RJ has just bought a very smooth blade that allows for way better comfort and effective usage than his former sword."

Just one question - are you getting an overhead luggage carrier? I'm used to a double overhead stack of luggage on my Tank's luggage carrier on our road trips...I'm curious if you feel the XL6's boot will suffice.

Sure! So let RJ share his trimming, cropping and shaving experiences through his ownership and driving experiences with a heavy sword or a fine blade. He for sure will know how best to use.

Long back, I was also contemplating on something similar, as In my case I neither had a boot after using 3 rows (XL6 has something better) nor did the 3rd row offer me split seats. I thought between a good roof rack and Thule box that one of the BHPians had successfully fitted and driven pan India. Over a period of time, I began to realise that this will be important to have only when I was using all 3 rows and I was on an overnighter sort of a trip. In all other cases, I would simply fold down the 3rd row and stack the luggage.

Question to RJ hence would be about such a need (on regular basis) where he will have to use all 3 rows and a "lot" of luggage. For a 2-3 day trip, the existing boot space is still good enough is what I have noticed, including the extra space below the floor where you can actually stack a couple of duffle bags too.
