Wow! Your smartphone is powering the entire car, except the engine.

Mahindra doesn't approve this as an accessory as I understand from the dealer. Their reasoning is that "such a mesh would reduce the air intake & tends to increase the overall temperature which is not good for the vehicle". Seems logical, but the issue of vermin outweighs the problem of air coming in

Also, this is very much available from 3rd party service centres.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi,

Can someone confirm how many recalls have been there from Mahindra for the XUV700. If I remember correctly someone had posted that there was one in the recent past.
So far I can remember are
1. O Ring / T-Bloc
2. Bolts in the trunk door
3. LCA
4. Wiring Loom Harness
Cheers!

IIRC, O Ring and T Block were different recalls. One for Diesel and the other for Petrol variants. Lower Arm replacement, ECU cover installation for some series and Starter Relay replacement are the other recalls I can remember.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hello Folks

I recently purchased an AX7 Version of XUV 700 and skipped the Luxury Variant but now I am missing the Sound Quality especially the low range thump frequencies which gets annoying with current setup.

I am thinking of placing an under-seat active subwoofer from like of Sony to have that bite of thump. Curious to know whether this shall require DSP too?

Request to advise on this budget friendly (~25-30k) upgrade.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hello everyone!

Took the car for Wheel Alignment (along with Wheel Balancing and Tyre Rotation) today after getting the 10k service done. Went to a reputed place in the city (Bangalore). Alignment was done using Hunter machine. All values are in green except the Camber values of Front Axle (report attached). When I asked the technician about it, he said that the Camber cannot be adjusted for this car. I don't have much knowledge about it, so I accepted his reasoning and came back.

Wanted to check here if it's indeed true that Camber cannot be corrected by tyre service shops. If yes, is there anything I can do (maybe via Service Centre) to get it corrected?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hello Folks!

I have barely a week old AX7 and entertainment screen went blank this morning, its running on an update software. Reverse camera screen is working but in any other Gear Slot, the screen is stuck on starting disclaimer in a low screen brightness mode.

The trusted way of multiple Engine On-off didn't resolve the issue.

Did anyone face this issue recently?

Happened with my car once. I disconnected the battery and kept it disconnected for 15 mins, and then connected back. It fixed the problem.

The Ultimate XUV 700 (AX5 D AT ) Journey: A 21 hours marathon behind the wheel

One fine day, I received a call from my brother-in-law stating that he is traveling to India. He will be landing in Bangalore and wants to travel to Amaravati, Maharashtra.
Unlike most people who would take a flight to Nagpur, I chose the more practical approach of a family trip to Amaravati.

My family is by now accustomed to these crazy car drives, but this was my longest one-day drive.
To my surprise, my brother-in-law didn’t find this plan crazy, especially after a long flight.
The plan was to leave early from my home, pick up my brother-in-law from the airport, and drive to Amaravati.

Day before:

I didn’t get much time due to office commitments, so a few things I did were:
1. Checked tyre pressure.
2. Made sure I carried my trusted Michelin tyre inflator.
3. Verified that the DEF levels were correct.
4. Ensured the Mahindra app was working and had roadside assistance information.
5. Ordered burgers from Truffles (Need to eat healthily :-))

I couldn’t find any good hotels after Hyderabad, so the plan was to quickly decide upon reaching Hyderabad. If everybody was okay with it, we would continue the journey.

The Day:

Started at 4:30 AM from home, reached Bangalore Airport at around 5:15 AM, and picked up my brother-in-law. Took a quick snack break near the airport and then continued towards Hyderabad.
For those unfamiliar with this highway, Bangalore Airport is on the way to the Hyderabad highway.

We arrived in Hyderabad by 2:00 PM. As planned, we took a vote on staying in Hyderabad, and everybody voted to continue.
I made sure to stay on the outer ring road, avoiding crossing through the city.

The Hyderabad to Amaravati route has good four-lane roads. However, there were fewer eateries along this stretch compared to my earlier journey.
The last 30-40 kilometers of the road were in bad shape, taking us around 1.5 hours.Consequently, we reached Amaravati by 1:00 AM.
The condition of that last leg was so poor that I kept thinking whether I should have taken the longer route through Nagpur instead.

Some observations

1. The XUV handles these long journeys really well. The seating position and power are excellent.
2. Passengers felt consistently comfortable throughout the trip.
3. Having done long journeys in sedans before, this being my first SUV, I believe SUVs make such trips more comfortable, especially on rough roads.
4. This being my first automatic transmission experience, I can confidently say it would have been tougher to manage this trip in a manual car.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

After driving for about 10 mins from home, got the "Check Engine" warning out of the blue yesterday night. I did not notice any other issues and the car behaved normally. But I did not want to risk anything and hence drove back home and parked the car.
Today morning called the RSA and confirmed that I can drive the vehicle to the service centre which is about 1.5Kms away.
As soon as I reached the service centre and told the service manager about the issue, he said it could be a rat bite issue.
I left the car at the centre and in the evening got the call from the service manager and below was the conversation:
SM: As suspected there were some rat bites and hence few wires were cut.
Me: Hmm, ok, so there was no other issue
SM: No. We are not supposed to fix issues due to rat bites but I am making an exception.
Me: What??
SM: It will cost Rs.1450/- to replace the wires
Me: Thats expensive for a few wires
SM: I will give a discount; it will cost Rs.1000/-
Me: I don't think I have a choice, so ok

I then messaged him on whatsapp to send photos of the affected areas. But got no response.

I went in the evening to pick up the car and the SM said: "There was just one wire which was cut so I am not charging you anything"
I had a million questions for this but did not know what to ask and I knew the SM would give some weird answers. I was just glad that the issue was fixed and drove home.

I guess I have been lucky till now as this was the first ever issue that I faced in 11 months of owning the car. Hope my luck hasn't run out

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Fellow owners - need some quick advise.
Yesterday my street got flooded in heavy Chennai rains. Since water level
Was raising in my area, I drove the car to higher ground and during that had to go through water level till windshield for about 1 minute (unwittingly)…I did not try starting the engine again and called up RSA now.
1. Is there a chance of engine damage?
2. what’s the experience on dealing with such issues for insurance. I do have engine cover protection but not sure if they cover water damage due to floods.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Rat bites are most common problem in India. I had faced the same issue with my car some time back.

So after purchasing a new car as per the service advisor's suggestion, I rubbed tobacco on the wires and have kept pouches of tobacco wrapped in muslin cloth at some places.

Till now I have not faced an issue again. You may want to try it.

A DSP would not be essential. You can tap the speaker wires and use as input for a powered subwoofer or amp.

Underseat subwoofers are not effective as per my listening in a friend's XUV as it wont fill the larger volume.

You can try adding a monoblock/2 channel amp and use a detachable sub. It will be more effective and within your budget.

You can also explore if you can fit a sub in the original sub location of L variant if you are content with the output from smaller size woofers.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Been a long time away from this forum, not surprised to see the discussion still continuing pages after pages . Did a recent 3rd free service ( 20k) for my XUV AX7L AWD. Chose the Sireesh service centre at Singasandra instead of my usual Ananth service centre (bannerghatta road). Turned out to be a mistake as the service at sireesh center was worse than ananth cars.Below are the highlights:

1) The total service cost was 12781.It was 18k initially but after highlighting the high costs, the service advisor redid the pricing and it cam down to 12.7k. includes the general service plus add-ons for about 6k approx. - wheel alignment and balancing, Maxicare interior enrichment, maxicare engine coating, maxicare silencer coating.
2) My car was in the list of recalls for wiring harness fix. After it was done,Had an issue with the tak-tak sound coming from the audio system.Highlighted it during this service, they kept the vehicle for 4 days but could not fix it. Asked me to bring the vehicle back after 1 week so that they can have a relook at it.
3) Took the vehicle again and now they kept it for 3 days ( they had promised that they will fix it in 2 hrs). Someone they found the cause of the issue ( resistor in the audio system) and fixed it.
4) I had asked for brush up of the anti rust coating ( it was done at the time of delivery), instead of top up, they did a complete re-coating and billed me for 3500. Raised the issue with the service advisor and after multiple deliberations, they removed the charge. Overall not happy with their service
5) Car is driving like a dream. I have a multi state tour coming up in few days ( 6k+), will post more about its performance after that. I complete 20k within 15 months and the car hasn't given me any issues so far.
6) Had one query on the dashcam purchase. I have been thinking on getting one coz of this long journey( and also parking monitoring). Does XUV have a spare OBD port to which the dashcam can be connected ?
