Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Another WEIRD niggle cropped-up yesterday!

Had visited a friend's place yesterday night for dinner and had parked the car in a quaint by-lane of Bandra. Mind you, the car had run yesterday for almost 100 km through the day yesterday for various errands till then. Got done at the friend's place around 1.30 a.m. and walked back to the car, only to find that the car refused to unlock, even after multiple attempts. First thought was that the battery of the keyfob had died again (battery was changed barely a month and half back). I knew for a fact that if I tried to unlock the car by retracting the handle and inserting the key into the door. the car is going to wake up the entire neighbourhood!

Tried unlocking the car through Adrenox, but no luck there either; just multiple unsuccessful attempts. The engine started in the first attempt via Adrenox, but the car still refused to unlock the doors. Ultimately opened the driver-side window via the window control option. Even after the window rolled-down and I put my hand inside to unlock the doors by pressing the button on the doorpad, the button was limp and didn't do anything even after pressing it multiple times. Ultimately pulled open the lock on the inner door handle and opened the door. The engine was running all this while. The moment I opened the door the horn started blaring and the lights started blinking violently; at that time of the night, it looked like the car was possessed! I actually jumped at the loud noise; surely the whole quiet neighbourhood would have woken up with a start. Even after I jumped inside and shut the door, the horn and lights wouldn't stop. Ultimately it stopped after I pulled the gear from P to D and started driving. The infotainment screen was frozen and couldn't operate the controls. The doors didn't lock automatically when I started driving either, and the lock button was still useless.

Since it was already late and I didn't want to get stranded in the middle of the road, I couldn't take the risk of stopping and restarting the car. Ultimately reached home, parked the car, slotted into P, shut the engine with the Start/Stop button and opened the door. The moment I opened the door, the same scene with the horn and lights occurred all over again! It was supremely embarrassing to say the least as it was 2.45 a.m. by now and the whole society would have woken up with this loud noise! Shutting the door didn't help either. All this while, Adrenox was sending these alerts: "Unauthorized vehicle entry alert". Ultimately the horn and lights stopped on it's own. The doors still refused to lock with the keyfob and Adrenox controls. Ultimately went upstairs with the thought of calling the Service Centre in the morning. While I was about to sleep half an hour later, peeped outside the window and tried using the keyfob again; and voila! the car locked. Tried unlocking/locking a couple of times and all was well, like nothing ever happened!

Drove to office today morning and everything is normal, everything is working properly. Simply appalled and shocked as to what could have gone wrong yesterday night. The car is touching 27k kms and such errant behaviour still scares me.

This is free gift from Mahindra
Jokes apart , this problem of failure of lock unlock feature usually gets rectified by classic IT approach. Reboot.

Just open the door via key manually. Let the car scream. Disconnect battery terminal for few minutes and reconnect. Usually you'll find all problems sorted

Happy driving

There are only two options for the rear indicator :-
1. your present indicator, and
2. the sequential indicator.

The one that you have in your car is the normal one.

You can try to convince your dealer to replace the current one with the sequential indicator.

That's a neat idea. Can we users catalog such free gifts/gremlins in XUV7OO? Issues faced till now :

1. Rear sensors showing an issue in the display, works ok after a couple of days.

2. Alexa not responding, could be a genuine network issue.

3. The rear camera is not showing any feed. Disappears and works fine after some days.

Please append the list so that we can send the same to Mahindra

The noise is happening when I turn the steering around 30 degree or so, and at that position it's audible if I just wiggle it. I can feel slight vibration on the left foot on dead pedal too. Sound is more like rubbing of a part without sufficient lubrication/light grinding around where the steering column connects to the steering gear. Any recommendations to make the visit to the ASC fruitfull?
Hi- Any updates in this? I guess I am facig the same issue. They did some greasing of Front RH axle shaft which helped but not eliminated in entirety. Mine is AWD D AT and driven less than 800Kms.

Let me take a lead on this one. Will start documenting offline all such issues reported on Team BHP. Will scroll through this thread to dig out older ones also and for benefit of other members will post the updated list here from time to time. Here are the two that I have faced till date:

1. Infotainment screen froze on home screen one morning after 5 minutes drive. Issue was solved after vehicle was switched off for couple of hrs.

2. Speakers not working, that is no sound. Again the issue got self solved after car was parked with engine off for couple of hours. Immediate restart didn't work in both the cases.

This turned out to be the foot mats rubbing against the steering rod!

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

'Front brake pad worn out' warning appeared at 28,200 kms on the odo. How many kms can I still drive before I get them replaced?

Mine is a XUV700 AX7L AT AWD. Is 28k kms decent life for brake pads?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

RSA is a joke beyond 50km of the city. My recent experience with both Mahindra RSA and Acko RSA (via ReadyAssist partnership) both were disappointed. Acko RSA gave up and asked me to find local help because they're unable to arrange. Mahindra folks demanded additional charges for the crane (which I was fine to pay but didn't arrange ...and even just to tell this, they took hours).

Acko folks promised to reimburse. There was no flatbed locally and RSA of both companies failed to arrange one too, the car was towed using the normal crane which is not recommended for longer distance. Even Acko folks said it'll 99% of the time cause damage for such a long distance but gave no solution and locally there was none either.

Ended up towing slowly using the crane itself. Don't know how much more damage it may have caused.

This was about 55 km from Bangalore. IDK what would be the situation in some remote locations with no local help. I used to think RSA is there to rescue us in cases of some sorta emergencies. I think all these companies are at best for within city limits or just a little beyond and not practically helpful beyond a certain point.

P.S. We used local towing help to move vehicle from accident spot to station, Mahindra failed there too and if we had relied on them, it would've taken them forever.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Fellow XUVians, heard in some reviews that some 7D floor mats start smelling after some time, particularly with water falling on them. Any of you have experienced this?

I got to know about this Indian brand who make floor mats for luxury cars (and also other cars). And they have both 7D & 9D (ultra luxury mats - as they call it). As you would order online directly from the OEM, so that the prices are also very competitive.

Pls share your thoughts.

Here are the links:

Sharing the images as well with the layers in both 7D & 9D

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

One of my friends is facing a weird issue with his XUV700 airbags. Upon starting the car, there are two loud "thumps" which come from the curtain airbag module on the driver side A-pillar.

This is followed by the airbag warning light going off on the dash for a few minutes, after which the light disappears.

He has shown it to the Mahindra ASC but they simply scanned the car and told him that the car is not showing any error codes. They have also asked him to replicate the issue which is not feasible as the issue occurrence is quite random.

Wanted to check if anyone else has faced any similar issues?

Really a sad situation... to see the car to through the repairs for no reason.

Did you have a "rat mesh' in your XUV earlier? or did you get it installed later on? Rat mesh would block all entries so that rats cannot enter the car from the bottom.

When I enquired about this with the dealer, they said that Mahindra doesn't give warranty on such a mesh & hence they dont provide it. However, it is easily available from outside. I have planned to get one on my new XUV, but yet to finalize where to get it from (in Bengaluru).

Any suggestions from other XUVians are welcome.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Encountered this strange issue with our XUV700 AX7L P AT.

While driving around, the engine would suddenly die and I would lose all power. I would pull over to the side, switch to Park mode and try to start the car but to no avail. The car would neither turn off completely nor turn on the engine. It would do nothing. (At this point, I was so annoyed that there isn't a physical override to just power off everything in the car apart from disconnecting the batteries)

But after repeated attempts, it would suddenly switch off and then it would work as if nothing ever happened. The check engine light came on occasionally with a transmission. error warning as well. Used an OBD reader to check about this and it warned me about something to do with ECM voltage being low.

Asked M&M to come and check the car at home but they said the ECU had no error logs at all - which sounded strange to me.

However on a recent drive, the same thing happened thrice in the span of 30 minutes. And it is during this time that I realized disconnecting the phone from the physical Android Auto connection (via USB) would resolve the issue of the car not switching off. I've been driving around using Wireless Android Auto since then and have not faced the issue so far.

Might be an issue with the USB port itself or the cable. Will keep this thread posted.

No, I didn't have rat mesh in my XUV. I asked my local Mahindra Service center about the steel mesh. They were clueless. I am too in search of it but not successful yet.

As far as I can recall, MG is one of the few car companies which provide steel rat mesh as an official accessory.
