I explained the tarmac condition further as you had mentioned ability of FullTime 4WD in context.
I think 90% of those who are here or any platform will be using Thar/Jimny on road and snow conditions (on tarmac) for places like Leh/Spiti. Just my view is for them. Few will go in rally, river crossings etc; and those people already know there vehicles very well.
I hope you understand my point was toward novice who are just entering into 4x4. For them, a simple wet tarmac section would look enough to summon 4H, which is not correct.

Almost all people I know do what this guy does at 1:40

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Just read another thread that mentioned that all Maruti vehicles will be E20 compatible by March, 2023.

So wondering if any of the recent owners found any mention of E20 compatibility in their Jimny’s owners manuals.

I assume its 7 inch round sealed projector headlamp which could be fitter to Thar also. Does it come with H4 pin?
While i've not experienced Jimny's headlight efficacy myself, I would say don't read too much from those images simply because Android, Samsung, Apple engineers et al are too good and those pictures lie a great deal . This, I realised after taking a picture from cabin at night with only the stock fog lamps of my Thar switched on. The reality and what showed in the image on my phone was like "day and night" difference. You, being a Thar owner, would know what I mean.

Having said that, I still expect Jimny's headlights to be far more superior than Thar's stock lights.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Bhpians have already started taking delivery and even started modding their Jimnys.

Yet, in this part of the country, we are grateful to be graced by the presence of Jimny this Sunday.

There’s a sticker inside the fuel lid of the Jimny which clearly states “Compatible up to E20 fuel”.

Yes they do but will really bog down the car. Apparently 215 to 235 slows down 0-100kmph by 3 seconds.

Will borrow a K15C ECU and check if tuning makes any difference.

Also, I am sure have 2 more gears in an AT is not a bad idea at all. Lets see.

.
The 6AT is transverse. The engine is longitudinal and 4x4 box. It's not a straight fit for them to just change it. Plus it has to handle the additional torque demands of the low ratio and off road abuse.

K15C is more complex and again why fix something that ain't broken. The K15B can handle abuse and offroad extreme use case globally. Literally no point in meddling with a proven recipe.

They already did enough meddling by changing 3 door to 5 door. lol.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Looks like NEXA Bangalore dealers are finally getting their display cars. Yelahanka is slated to display from today afternoon onwards.

Demos expected to start from 22nd, Friday next. I guess KA RTOs are still in the process of 'approving' the Jimny variants in their records.

Popular launched it on Friday. I will hazard a guess that the Jimny is not a priority focus in Kerala.

Generally deliveries seem to be in the North which seems to be a more important variant for these kind of vehicles. Even the Thar launch is Kerala came a week or two after the official launch.

Drive on,

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

I am have trouble with getting the accessories I want from the dealer. All they have are the superficial ones like handle covers and stick on garnishes. Is there a way to buy accessories online? Most of the stuff I want like roof rails are DIY.

The only thing I need from them is front parking sensors but they don't have details on it.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Thought this discussion needs to be posted here.

Having Shumi to discuss cars for so long is an achievement in itself. I do like this channel and love the discussions. The video handles certain discussions in this forum rather well.

One comment that stood out is this. Nice analogy.

Quote:
It seems Jimny is comparable to Xpulse and Thar is comparable to Himalayan. Both Jimny and Xpulse are light weight, underpowered with exceptional off road capability, good in city and not so great on highway. Thar and Himalayan are both heavy, powerful and great off road, ok in city and exceptional on Highway.
All credits to the original poster.
