Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Great booking numbers.
Another interesting stat would be actual convert to delivery from these.

I think given immensely high delivery timelines, some of these new Mahindra launches would also be seeing significant cancellations. Happy to be wrong though

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Checked the booking page this morning and the 'payment Failed' message was replaced with 'Price prevailing at the time of delivery will be applicable'. So, my booking is successful .

Also, I went to check the different variants of the Roxx yesterday and found the seat cushioning on a harder side and I think that is going to be one of the top things to rob comfort from the users. Not sure, if there is a solution to it or with usage the seats will become a little softer.

Overall, a well sorted product by Mahindra and the first one (that I drove)where the test drive car was without any niggles.

Thanks,
Slushmaster

I know couple of my colleagues who did an impulsive booking for Roxx even though they do not need a new car for next 1-2 years. Out of those colleagues, some have done more than 1 booking with different dealers just to get different priority in delivery schedules. I presume that the actual delivery numbers will be lesser than 1.76 lakh. Mahindra has not disclosed total number of Thar Roxx bookings done until yesterday end of the day. It will be good to announce total booking numbers of Roxx.

4.2m car segment is pretty competitive and this segment has lot of SUV options out there for people to choose from. If delivery timelines end up beyond 12 months, some people would move to alternatives as Thar Roxx price will definitely be more one year down the line.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

1.7Lakh bookings in 1 hour!? Think about 1 month numbers! 5Lakh minimum, I'll say.

Even if some may be Scorpio/ xuv / Thar 3d customers, this is a good news for Mahindra as a company. And good for recent future customers of other models like creta, seltos, gv, hyryder etc as an imminent price cut / discount is possible.

Poor Maruti and Jimny. They might have expected this kind of a madness and satiated while designing the 5d Jimny, but ended up as a victim of its pricing, and lack of power, size and space.

The problem with Jimny was very high pricing for its package.

4x4 and that's it.
Engine power was minimal, and old Gypsy completely remade had more value

This month discount on Jimny are touching 3L, had they priced themselves at 3L lower when it was launched with introductory pricing of Jikny being 3.5L lower for first few runs.

They would have been able to build a cult.

Jimny is a capable vehicle no doubts about it, but is underpowered and not adequately spaced inside for it to be a 5D (4 seater).

Mahindra took this page from MSIL handbook gave VFM for the best price which no one else is providing (each have it's own issues but still).

Thar 5D provides, you ADAS, 4x4 , Sunroof, Street cred, Driveability, desirability
Albeit with insane waiting periods and if you compare costs It isn't thay expensive if you see the competition.

Mahindra understands that Indians want VFM. A 10L Jimny will do almost everything a 18L Thar can, but people will still find Thar VFM and Jimny overpriced.

Companies like Renault, Citroen, Skoda etc still haven't understood this fact about Indians.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

For the allocations, do they follow a FIFO with respect to booking time, among the different variants ? How was it done in case of the other Mahindra vehicles like 700, SN, Thar 3D?

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

So I couldn't log in yesterday after making the booking. I wanted to explore other variants today. They've blocked editing the variant. I think I'd really like the battleship color over brown. The brown is a stunner in the 3D variant. I doubt it'll translate as well over to the 5D.

I too have booked AX5L * D * AT * 4WD* Tango Red while I find AX7L better value for money because of below reasons:

1) I do not want pano sunroof in a 4 WD vehicle which I will take to land of shooting stones and hail/snow. It is a safety hazard in those areas plus recent incidents of sunroof ejection due to overturning on highways is a risk not talked about much. Safety first. Plus additional heat into the cabin is another issue. The curtain is no more thick than a table mat plus additional maintenance cost for a feature which will be seldom used by me.

2) 19 inch wheels compromise ride quality plus being irregular size are costly and with less options, I like 18 inch design much better as well.

The features I wanted but missed due to priority of above 2 points are ventilated seats, better music system and 360 degree camera.

The sound quality of non-Harman system is pathetic so I will get that upgraded. 360 degree camera will check if is in official accessories list otherwise I am fine with not having it. Ventilated seats I am going to definitely miss but so be it.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Yesterday I tried to book, payment processed but on the booking page it was showing Payment Failed.
I tried calling the dealer, Mahindra support and they told me there is a glitch and that the payment is most likely done please wait a while and also directed me to send a email at bookingsupport@mahindra.com for the same.

I did sent an email but no response received as of now. I did not hurry in any way to do another booking so left it as it is.

Today afternoon booking status shows confirmed with 3 Oct as the booking date.

Booked the AX5L Diesel AT 4X4 mocha interiors, Battleship Grey

Initially I thought of booking AX7L but 19 inch wheels(replacement cost will be almost double than those of 18 inches) and no storage on doors was a bummer. Single pane sunroof is more than enough as I mostly use it to remove the hot air from the parked car, have been doing it on our WRV and Seltos. Car cools down way fast than one without the sunroof and it helps alot here in the heat of Rajasthan.

I can live without ventilated seats and 8-9 speaker system but the only thing I will miss is auto folding ORVMs and 360 cameras.
Not sure since when auto folding ORVM is a luxury feature in 2024!
Mahindra should have provided a front camera atleast like the ScorpioN.

(PS: I am not in hurry and can wait even for a year but at the same time I knew that this will recieve huge booking numbers so booked one right now, any way this will take a minimum of 4 months from now as mentioned on the Mahindra website)

My 40k is stuck 2 payments which it showed as failed but money got stuck and I made the 3rd payment which went through. In other words Mahindra has received 60k of my payment.

360cam / Front Rear I know a person who should be able to provide in the OEM screen and OVRM (OEM) you can get it done from dealership or Karol Bhag.

Rest Ax5L makes utility sense.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I went through this process of booking for XUV7OO and successfully booked in the first few minutes of launch. I asked the dealer where I bought my top end Scorpio in 2009 if there is any way he can help as I am a loyal Mahindra customer for more than a decade. He told me that it is very transparent booking process by Mahindra and there is no special booking preference given to dealers. I believed them and later realised that the whole booking is a big joke and the people who paid the dealer got the delivery soon. I was told to wait for 6 months. I immediately cancelled and it took almost one month for the refund after deduction of 10% and tweeting Mahindra multiple times. Mahindra never cares for its loyal customers is what I realised. On the day of the cancellation, I drove to Toyota showroom in my Scorpio and exchanged it in few hours with a super white Innova Z diesel automatic by paying an amount of 3.15 million rupees on the spot without doing TD of the car. It is a Toyota, what is the need to do test drive. This transaction with Toyota is way more than XUV7OO price but still I went ahead.

Later I came to know that there are a lot of disappointed people like me who bought Tata Safaris and Crystas as it is doesn't make sense to wait for months and years for a car.

I wish and hope ROXX bookings don't go in the same route making other car companies see sales increase.

This is 100% correct and i experienced it during Scorpio N booking. Unfortunately it has not changed with Roxx. One of the dealer i visited for Roxx told clearly that out of first few batches recieved, a majority will first go to known people, influential people and people ready to pay premium and asked me to book offline through them instead of offline so that he can keep me updated and help in case someone cancels. He persisted to emphasize on early delivery even though I mentioned I am not in a hurry.

I decided on the spot to book only online so that atleast my money can be refunded without follow up plus I selected another dealer whose salesperson were not very enthusiastic
Let us see how it goes.

I have also heard that dealers have a way to upload batch booking and on booking open time they are able to get the batch bookings done in one go.

I had visited showroom and took another test drive about 4 days before bookings opened. The salesperson did follow up and was pushing to book offline via showroom. I knew each showroom had 50+ offline bookings by that time and I will not pay any premium or buy compulsory accessories to get early delivery.

My rationale for online booking:
- No extra charge payment. The benefit of online booking is that you pay only ₹21k. The showrooms charge 2% extra (i.e. ₹420) on credit card payment and make the customer pay 2% charge.
- Ease of cancellation. If you cancel booking done online, you will get the amount back in couple of days. If you have to cancel booking done via showroom, then you need to keep asking them on refund status.

I booked XUV700 sometime around Dec 2021 online and got delivery date which was 18 months away. I waited for about 6-8 months and delivery timeline did not change, so eventually I cancelled the booking and got the booking amount refunded in 3-4 weeks.
