Sound quality isnt top notch but it suffices for now, cant keep writing CDs every time I want to listen to new music. IMO this is a really stupid move by Fiat to disable the aux-in. Argh!
The Blaupunkt units were discontinued by Fiat since September 2010. This is because Bosch sold Blaupunkt brand and the new owner of the brand decided to pull out of India. The unit in your car , I think, comes from Delphi. may be as a measure of cost reduction or non availability of technology, the Aux-in are disabled in the new HU's.

Also if possible independent part prices too. I ask because we were hearing about some increase in spare part prices from FIAT.
OIL FILTER 354.27
FUEL FILTER without SENSOR DSL 1642.62
AIR FILTER ELEMENT 523.86
ENGINE OIL 1L SELENIA @577.14
FRONT SEAT 2WAY LH SLIDING RAIL 4937.63 (warranty)

plus VAT.

Other than that, 2days for regular servicing, that's a bit too much dont you think.
Thought so. But then if I push for an early delivery, they might not attend the car with such detail.

Do they ask for you to make a booking for the service or did you just walk in.
Booked the day before.
Because here in my town the service centre asks to make a booking especially for scheduled service, so that you dont have to wait for 2days to get it serviced. They even ask people to arrive in 15minute intervals, so that nobody has to wait to be checked by the SAs.
They too might have such a system in place; in any case the waiting period was approx 5 minutes.
Also no updates were done in my car AFAIK. The SA was openly discussing me all those tech things ( there is this " Love cars. Live cars." decal in my GP's back bumper ) so I dont think any updates were made.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

So they informed you while booking that it may take upto 2days to get it done, or only when you reached??

After inspecting the co-driver's seat. The rail changing op apparently is a time-consuming one, it seems.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

I have got an older blaupunkt unit. Can anyone tell me how to remove the front and insert the cable?
will that void my warranty?

Also, would a standard auxiliary cable suffice?

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Personally i don't like the new punto's looks and I hope it never makes it here , I feel a punto gets its classic look because of its front profile and the plasticky front-end in the new model only makes it look like it has an swollen upper lip with a fake mustache.

Guys, on another note, everyday in the morning I idle my car before I head out, approx. for a min and in that duration there is sometime in between where the engine which starts of with a distinct growl (not in a good sense), settles into a smooth sounding unit only then do i start the movement. Can anyone explain this, I am certain that my car Idle's this way. Because I once started driving before this smooth fast pitched clatter started and for about a good 20 min the car was very unresponsive and felt something is not in synch.

I have tried to explain what's heard and may not have done justice completely .

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Guys, apropos with my post made on the other day regarding the 15K service, I today discovered that the tyre pressure on my front wheels were 40 PSI (recommended: 32PSI on all wheels) and the rear wheels, 27 and 29. As you all know, this has happened immediately after the tyre rotation and alignment by Kulathungal Motors, Trivandrum. Let me take back one from the 10 stars that I' ve awarded.

YES, I know the solution.

Please search for 'external volume' option(in the HU settings) and lower it.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Guys, On my Punto 1.3MJD, i feel some good amount of steering vibration on reaching speeds around 120kmph.. If i continue to increase the speed, it reduces but still around that 120 mark there is some good amount of vibration. Does anybody else felt this or should I show it to the service centre. Can the texture of the road give this vibration?

My car also has these vibrations as the tires have worn out unevenly. Please check-
  • Condition of your tires and see if they are damaged or have uneven wear.
  • Get Wheel Balancing checked.
  • Check rims for any damage.
