I believe it can cost as much as 2.5 lacs for a complete replacement. I have no idea about its life in general.

Re: Skoda Yeti : Review, Price & Pictures

Thank you Shankar.balan,

I was at the dealer today doing my research on the subject before I take the plunge and was told the clutch costs 18K, it's the same used in the Laura, so if one accounts in the labour charges etc, it should cost around 35K- 38K for the same.

I am keen on picking up a second hand Yeti but donot posses the technical knowledge to evaluate the car, are there any specialists in Mumbai who can help with the same ?

TSI are only available in 2011 across Mumbai (no plans of 2012 models till stock clearance). Total discount on offer 1.5L (+17K corp discount).

Yeti also has ample 2011 availability and discounts upto 1.5L and for 2012 models discounts are 50K.
Hi I am located in Mumbai as well, out of the 3 dealers only 1 seems to interested in selling Yeti, one dealer has a mobile number listed as contact details on the Skoda site and no, one answers the phone, I tried 3 times today. The second one said "no discounts" and unaware of any offers on the Yeti.

Only the 3rd one seemed interested and offered on the lines of what you mentioned above.

Whooo! Thats a BIG relief. Thank you!

You know, one of our mates on TBHP ScrewDriva, wanted to sell his Yeti. Maybe you can buy that one? He is upgrading I believe to Q3. Do check it out by writing to him on PM.
Better to buy from a forum member than some outsider.

Are we talking apples and oranges here? Clutch and Haldex clutch are two different beasts. The basic clutch is used in every day driving while the Haldex is automatically engaged to give you four wheel power when the car ECM detects wheel spin. Are you sure that the price being mentioned is of Haldex and not normal clutch?

The wear on Hldex clutch will depend on the terrain driven and consequently its life in kilometres driven.

Good point about what it would cost to repair/replace Haldex clutch.

Re: Skoda Yeti : Review, Price & Pictures

Motorway lights:

If the automatic light control has been switched on and the vehicle speed is over
140 km/h for at least 10 seconds, the side lights and low beam are switched on automatically.
If the vehicle speed is below 65 km/h for at least 2 minutes, the lights are switched
off.

Hi Yetians, Is this a standard feature on india bound Yeti's?? Can a Yetian confirm? thanks

I have contacted ScrewDriva, but have to take it forward. Have been extremely busy on the family front. My last experience with second-hand cars was bad, and I have stayed away from them since. This time I don't want to repeat my past mistake and would like to do a proper due diligence before I indulge. Not that I don't trust a fellow bhpian, it's just that sometimes even we are not aware of what's wrong with our vehicle unless it goes in for a service.

I don't even mind paying for having an expert take a look at a the car. If there are any fellow members who can help it would great. Please PM me, I am still a newbie out here and can't PM.
If all works out, will seal the deal ASAP.

Regards

I completely agree with you here, infact I ask atleast 3 times, but got the same reply. Either the sales person was ignorant or was trying desperately to make a sale (or maybe both).

If there is anyone in the forum who can get accurate info, it would be great.

Re: Skoda Yeti : Review, Price & Pictures

Hi.

I don't think the Laura has the Haldex at all. Or am I wrong?

I am not an expert on this and would need to research the same.

Else, would be really happy for clarifications from experts here on the Forum.

I would certainly like to know a real estimate of the costs of a Haldex Clutch replacement as also a change of its plates/ facing etc.

No, this is not a standard feature on Indian Yeti, but can be activated via VCDS or VAGCOM, I have this feature enabled on my Yeti, there are other good to have feature like brake lights and turn indicator(hazard) getting on when you brake hard and ABS is in play for more than 10 sec continuously.

You can even have the auto light provided you change the light switch, the auto light switch is different and you won't get that here as no other Indian Skoda has the same shape of Auto light, Laura and Superb uses different size switch.

Re: Skoda Yeti : Review, Price & Pictures

I have an offer for a dealer 4x4 Elegance at 17lac - 14 months old. Thats 4.25L less than the new car OTR. The car has run a lot - little over 30,000 km. Not a good deal?

2.5lac for a clutch Goodness gracious! Gulp - so this is how owning a Yeti is going to be... nervous now.

I have only heard this. I don't know it for sure. And there is another post saying 38 to 40k. I have to research this one.

Re: Skoda Yeti : Review, Price & Pictures

Hi folks, am a new member of TBHP but I've been following the Yeti threads for over a year - stalwarts like Sushil, Pramod, Behemoth, Shankar Balan etc. I've been in the market for new wheels for over eight months. The Yeti was my emotional pick right from the beginning but the rational part (too much money, service issues, rear seat comfort etc) kept me from taking the plunge. I evaluated everything from the Ertiga to the Jazz to the Duster. Finally, spurred on mainly by the reviews and comments on this forum and a couple of decisively good test drives I walked in to Vinayak Auto, quoted Shankar's name (though I've never met or corresponded with him) and came out the proud owner of an Aqua Mist Elegance 4x4.

This long drawn out post is just to thank all of you for sharing your experiences, views and feedback. It allowed me to take a heart over mind decision with eyes wide open.

Btw, received great service at Vinayak. Shankar's mention worked wonders with Hemanth, the GM, who was extremely responsive. Chetan and Anand from the dealer finance team were also excellent.

Now look forward to many fulfilling miles with the little beast. Thanks again

Congrats on following your heart.

Cant wait to buy one - been warned by elders not to purchase during this month as its not good or something. I just don't want to offend the gods or the elders, especially with my wife being 2 months pregnant with our first child.
