The car has turned out very well, and is a real looker.
There's something very common with both we Kadam's

Color yellow seems to be our favourites

This news report / article must have appeared in 2003, that is the year I had restored this Beetle for Mr.Tatagat Satpathy. It was owned earler by Mr.Uttam Kumar a famous actor from Bengal.

Sameer Kadam's beetle being a real authentic buildup.

He had it lying in Lonavala then in bandra reclamation outside aman's place when I spoke to him 4 years ago I am happy he fixed her as I feared she would go into the ground before he attended to it unlike the 914.

I suppose aman did the build up

It really is a looker isn't it? The colours seem to work, which I would be apprehensive about on any other car of the era. The car was built by his mechanic who does all his other cars as well, not Aman.

One Baywindow in Bangalore was owned by Mr Kersy Mistry. (dominator's cousin)

Had heard a lot about that Bus, but off late not heard where is it and what happened to it.

It was offered sometime ago, but without documents.

Would love to have some pics of it.

Stint? She was lying in the open next a slum and not in transit but for a long period. I am surprised to what I see now, your guy is dedicated. Were all the parts (trim/bidding etc) stored with sameer or were they all bought from the market during buildup?

Actually the guy is Sameer's discovery, I think most of the parts were imported over a period of time.

can he manage retro mods/doing mechanical fabrications? i.e transplanting modern engines & gearboxes into classics? For my every day usage I am thinking of building a retro classic instead buying off the shelf set of wheels

Guys, I have been seeing this VW was rotting away but recently saw someone cleaning it in years. On enquiry from the watchman, i was told that its going to be restored (I hope and thank God).

Of what vintage would this bug be?

Attaching pics taken while the cleaning was going on.

'looks like a late 50s/early 60s bug, going by the rims, front windscreen and the decklid, which should've had the "nose" shaped numberplate light. I cant see the rear windscreen but I presume its not an oval. They also are supposed to have a "W" pattern on the decklid.

No its not an oval....At least the windscreen which the car has is not, maybe a swap?
What about the dash? Its missing the Fuel Guage which came in at 62 if im correct. Then again sometime in late 60'-70's it was included in the round meter. This round meter is only a speedo. This car has all the signs of a late 50's early 60's bug. Notice the read deck lid design, the 5 nut wheels, the door handles etc. but not being well versed with bugs, i was at a loss to decipher the correct vintage. Waiting for The Bug Gurus..... what say Karl, PavanKadam, Splitscreen, 71 convertible, 67Bug and the whole lot out there.
I cant help but notice the dash's resemblance to Sameer Kadam's convertible. What year would that bug be?

Wonderful to see someone taking interest on that abandoned Bug, That car seems to have gone under restoration sometime back, but midway abandoned, you can see difference in the color inside out.

That is a 58 Bug, you can say that by noticing the Smaller windows, the decklid and the 5 lug rims.

Untill 1961 Bugs never saw the fuel meter on Dashboard.
