That red car must have been clicked some 15 yrs back in Namma Bengaluru's Brigade road.

That car belongs to Mustaq and is now turned white, transplanted with a 1600 cc engine and is with a KA number, well there's some confusion over the papers about that car. And its on Sale.

Where in Hyd. was this car do you remember?? Did you find it in a garage? I remember coming across the same car once around 2000-01, while going to a garage, but cannot recollect where exactly it was! It was the second time I'd passed by it, the first time being in 1998, when I was going with my dad to his former workplace- AP Tribal Health welfare office. We'd passed by this garage that was very close to it on the way, and I remember seeing a white 4-door Herald then () that seemed to be getting done up there. It was to see if this car was still around that I'd insisted to my dad on going there again.
There was also a yellow with black roof 4-door Minor, and a junking late 60s white American car that I couldnt identify- it had something like "daisyline" or "daisylene" and some flowers painted on it's side. Pity I didnt take pics. then!

Really liked the way they were designed, futuristic.

Those fastbacks look really nice, very sporty too.

I always wanted to get one and soup it up, drop teh front bumpers and give it mean wheels on spacers and with a custom flame job on the sides one would be having a blast with it.

I couldn't get one so I went ahead and got my Fiat 850 Coupe which was very similar looking tooking to this design. Had the wheelarches flared, a set of wide rims and radial tires fitted and it was a blast to drive.

I always had people going round teh car and asking if I wanted to sell it.

The silhouette, roof and glass area of this car reminds me of the classic 1962 Porsche 'Type 965'. Porsche shelved the project I think and went on to design and produce the 911. However, some of the design projects had some connection with VW. The VW Karmann Ghia for example

This is not a Variant. It was known as 1600 TL. Variant was the station-wagon version:

This car for your information is not called a variant, let me correct it for you, this car is called by 2 names, 1600TL or a Fastback.

I did not know it was not rare, very interesting information you have Mr Ajay.

In my 10 yrs of limited information about VW's i only came across 3-4 Fastbacks.

Yes i agree Suhas, thats why i meant the design is very Futuristic.

I stand corrected.
But there are at least 2 fastback Type3 cars in Kerala itself.
Moreover 1,339,124 German fastbacks were produced + 129,516 Brazilian fastbacks were produced, then I cannot understand how can one call it a "verry rare"' car!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe whatever cars some guys collect ,has to be labelled "RARE"" otherwise how will they make its market price soar!!!
