Sid,

The first thing in mind that comes is that can we get that scooter by any means . Well the mechanic is an old but very good guy. He was friendly. I will ask him this weekend if he is willing to sell. I will love to have that scoot.

A bit off-topic but since we are on a community thread I guess we can sway a bit.

Dont tell me your joining the scooter bandwagon. If so this is the perfect way to get in with a bang. Heres a nice pic of a restored one in the US. Not authentic but one of my favorites. Now only if I can get my hands on one that I can afford

Here's a similar(?) sticker with the Hindi script I saw on an engine taken from a '67 Delight yesterday.

Not completely intact but hope it helps in some way if/when replicated.

I doubt if it's an original safari. But it is an original President by the looks of it. I think the number too is very much in keeping with that year?
Now you'll forgive me guys, but this is a much-better executed station-wagon conversion that what I'd expected when I saw the first pic. downloading, guessing that it's a 'safari'. Most important part is the original tail-lights have been retained despite the mod-job! A lot of other local fiat-conversions I have seen don't have this.

Yes, and that gives me an afterthought now- what if it actually happens to be a President engine?

Manish- you know Telugu?

Well, the car was said to be a '67 Delight, by which time I think they would've been getting 'Indianised' Even the instruction manuals came partly in Hindi (and partly English)
But still, I share your doubt. As I suggested, it might've had an engine transplant from a President at some point.
