re: Hyderabad - Goa : Route Queries

A plan is brewing for a trip to Goa on April 11th weekend. Not sure if it'll even happen but, would love to know the latest conditions of this route.

As always, will be staying in N.Goa.

My favorite route is the Hyd-Gulbarga-Bijapur-Amboli-Sawantwadi-Panjim

But, Iam keen to try the Hubli route while going to Goa. Any updates on this route and what is the complete route from Hyderabad?

The only pain in the Hyd-Gulbarga-Bijapur-Amboli-Sawantwadi-Panjim route is the bridge in between Humnabad and Gulbarga. Please inquire about it, if its still under maintenance, avoid this route at all costs.

Some parts (ex - Zaheerabad-Humnabad, amboli ghat) were broken up in patches post rains last year and were in pathetic condition, hopefully would have been rectified by now. Anyone going towards Mumbai would be able to update on it. Your ride would anyway be able to take them well - just take care of the bridge part before you plan.

Not sure about the conditions of the Chorla route now - the place does look fantastic. But after looking at the pics in the thread below - won't take it until I get a proper confirmation from someone

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...rla-route.html

The pics are around 18 months old - do you think the road would have changed for the best in this period ?

@mobike,
Now a days, I am hearing good words about chorla ghat route between Belgaum and Goa.
If want some change in the route, try it.
Sahir Kittur is the man who may know more about this route.

Please look on mumbai - goa route thread!

Instead take the route to Belgaum and then go via Chorla.

Hyd-Bijapur-Bagalkot-Lokapur-Yargatti-Belgaum-Chorla-Goa
A bit longer but good roads and Chorla is scenic!

+1 to this route. Why do you want to go by a route you have already done?

Thanks Guys. Looks like an overwhelming response for the Chorla Route. Hope you guys arent trying to make me a scapegoat to find out the current road conditions of this route

Jokes apart, I will take this route while going if road conditions are decent. Iam not worried about a few kms of bad patch which my car can take with aplomb

Bijapur means, I go through Gulbarga again right or is there any other rout to reach Bijapur?

Being a mod its your responsibility to update us with the best - Go on, try that route out . Kidding.

There are multiple routes to go to Bijapur, you will have to go via Gulbarga but its not an issue. I had taken one of the routes(2) while coming back - except a 'No Road' strech of 8 kms or so, it was ok and very good in parts.

1. Hyderbad - Zaheerabad - Humnabad - Gulbarga - Bijapur.
Except the problem with the bridge between humnabad and gulbarga - this would be the best route to go to Bijapur.

2. Hyderbad - Pargi - Sedam - Gulbarga - Bijapur.
This is the route I took and there is a horrible strech of 8 kms which will surely take around an hour - You would seriously not want
to do that.

3. Hyderabad - Mahbubnagar - Sedam - Gulbarga - Bijapur.
Hyd-Mah is a no brainer Mah - sedam is not known.

Sedam - Gulbarga - Bijapur is a breeze - a beautiful SH10 will escort you to Gulbarga from Sedam. Finally, the only problem is reaching Sedam from Hyderabad for routes 2 and 3, anyone has any idea on Mahbubnagar to Sedam ?

Not sure if this is a good option.

How about going directly from Hyderabad to Sedam Via Vikharabad.?

Waseem.

I think the route is not directly via Vikarabad. Just before entering Vikarabad, you need to take that left towards manneguda and proceed to Pargi and then proceed towards SH10.

Again, I am not sure if any better route exists via Vikarabad. Howz the route anyway which you mentioned >> Mahbubnagar-Marikal-Gurmitkal-Sedam ? It should anyday be better than the 2nd option I mentioned.

Edit : Just checked, there is route to pargi via Vikarabad too(instead of manneguda) - joins pargi at the same place.

My friend. I did the hyd-goa route recently for IBW. Rode down with a friend on my bullet. The route we took is Hyd-mahabubnagar-raichur-hubli-alnavar(dharwad)-ramnagar-ponda-panjim). This route is about 650kms. Saves you about 100kms from the original 750 BUT the road is pretty bad in some parts on the alnavar stretch.

We took the Karwar route back to Hubli and I would highly recommend this road. (Please remember to fuel up just before exiting Goa). The road is great with a lot of curves and bends)

re: Hyderabad - Goa : Route Queries

Came back from Goa yesterday via Karwar, Ankola, Hubli, Kopal, Gangawathi, Manvi, Raichur, Mahbubnagar, Boothpur, Hyd.

I took this road in Oct 12 and what a pleasant surprise yesterday was:
  • The Koppal bridge is done.
  • The Raichur to Mbnr stretch is in excellent condition with most of newly laid roads. Need to watch out for speed breakers around thermal plant and at entry and exit of every town.
  • The entire stretch seems to awesome as I must have taken this route at least once a year since last 6 years but can definitely say that it is at it's best condition till date...
  • The Raichur bypass that shows up in Google maps but doesn't exist is open now. It takes you through few KMs and get you back to almost the circle where the left turn needs to be taken. Seems to have saved around 5 mins time. All trucks are diverted like that and I also got tempted and took that road. Once the complete bypass is open, it should save a good 15-20 mins time.

Few tips which may help:
  • Saw a Udupi cafe on the left side before Karwar. Had bfast there and can be a good bfast point for anyone who is starting from South Goa early in the morning.
  • Had lunch at Kamat after crossing Hubli on the left side. The jawar and bajra roti meals was good.
  • In Koppal, after the BPCL on the left side, saw a hotel called Foodland. Stopped there for tea which was good but the other south Indian dishes like Dosa etc seem to be good as well.

re: Hyderabad - Goa : Route Queries

Oops, stopped there so many times but never noticed the exact location and also can't find it in GMaps.

It is after crossing the Hubli town - between the underpass and railway crossing. It is on the left side. The underpass to railway crossing is around a 2-3 kms stretch and it is mostly around the mid point.

Hi prabingade - Can you post details of how much time it took (driving time, breaks time) and approx kms covered ... I am completely familiar with the route/ conditions from Hyd till Gangawathi.
