re: Hyderabad - Goa : Route Queries

I have been to Goa recently. I went through JNTUC - ORR - Parigi - Kodangal -Yadgir - Shahapur - Sindhgi - Bijapur - Bagalkot - Yargatti - Belgaum - Chorla - Panjim. It took me 12 hours to reach Goa. There is no proper road between Shahapur - Sindghi for 30 km's. The road literally not exists and another 30 km's not in good condition. I suggest choose Kondagal - Sedam -Gulbarga - Bijapur.

While return journey, I came through Vasco - Ponda - Mollem - NH4A - Belgaum - Yargatti - Lokapur - Mudhole - Jamkhandi - Bijapur - Jeevargi - Gulbarga - Humnabad - Hyderabad. Travel time: 13 hours. Lot of pot holes from Goa/Karnataka boarder (NH 4A) and too many speed breakers between Lokapur - Mudhole - Bijapur. Struck in Mudhole for 15 min (traffic) and zaheerabad bypass (Police diverted all the vehicles to town bypass and very narrow road and lot of truck traffic cost me 30 min to cross zaheerabad)

re: Hyderabad - Goa : Route Queries

Summary:

- Looks like every thing around NH9 is not all that great.
- Bagalkot-Lokapur-Belgaum-Chorla seems to be very good

So to get to Bagalkot, why not:

Hyd-Sasnool-Raichur-Lingsugur-Hungund-Bagalkot ?

This is popularly known as the gadwal route and the crossing is known as Gadwal Crossing.

re: Hyderabad - Goa : Route Queries

Did Bijapur - Gulbarga - Sedam - Pargi - Hyderabad earlier this week.

Bijapur to Gulbarga is fantastic. Maybe just a very small bad patch or two.

Gulbarga - Sedam - Pargi - Hyd was great. Two points where there's some construction going on - but only 200 meter stretches - so no problem really.
Started at 5 am and was near Abids, Hyd by 9 am.

Hi Praneeth

I think you should be looking at Parigi, Sedam, Gulbarga and onwards. At least that is the only good option we seem to have from previous posts here. I am planning on this very same route on the 28th. Let me know how it worked for you.

re: Hyderabad - Goa : Route Queries

is route Hyderabad - Mahbubnagar - Raichur - Gadag - Hubli - Dharwad - Ponda - Colva, Goa

not advised at all? This one seems to be a shortest route on google maps to south Goa.

If I were doing this trip, I would choose this one :

Hyderabad - Chevalla - Pargi - Kodangal - Sedam - Gulbarga - Bijapur - Bagalkot - Hubli - Yellapur - Ankola - Karwar - Margao - Colva

over this one :

Hyderabad - Mahboobnagar - Raichur - Sindhanur - Gangavati - Koppal - Hubli - Yellapur - Ankola - Karwar - Margao - Colva

because the road conditions are not as good (as route 1) on the 2nd route between Mahboobnagar and Koppal.

Once you touch Hubli, there is absolutely no need to go via Londa-Ponda as the route via Karwar is far superior.

Hope this helps.

The second route suggested was the route taken 2 weeks ago my me to Goa.
In fact the roads were in good condition till Raichur from Hyderabad.

Raichur -Gangawathi is Average can still maintain 80-100kms except for small
towns with speedbreakers can slow you a bit.

Budguppa cross to Koppal road widening is going on.

Koppal-Hubli-Karwar is good.

As I chose Palolem South Goa so is the route.

From Palolem to Colva took about 1.15mins in the morning hours.

The average time from Hyderabad to Palolem excluding breaks were 11.30hrs.
This was a night drive with 2 persons exchanging turns at the wheels

Hope this helps

re: Hyderabad - Goa : Route Queries

It makes sense to take Gajadonga's route only if you're visiting South Goa. For Margao, Panjim and North Goa, route 1 is a better option. That route takes around 11 hours of driving time, excluding breaks.

Edit: I forgot to mention that Colva is close to Margao (6 kms).

re: Hyderabad - Goa : Route Queries

I need to drive from Goa to Hyderabad, and prefer to complete in a single stretch.
I would be driving to Goa from Bangalore.

Ideally I would prefer a day driving, but that may not be possible. I will prefer a 4 laned tolled road after sun down.
Will it be possible to do a Gadag-Hospet-Bellary-Gooty or Koppal-Gangavathi-Adoni-Kurnool ?
What would be best way to get to NH7 before sun down ?

thanks in advance.
