The road upto the AP border is manageable, with scattered potholes. Not a stretch that you can drive upon carefree. Have to be vigilant since the potholes are few, but big.

Approx 25 kms stretch around Humnabad is a nightmare. The road is completely broken and you have to be very careful.

They work nicely! Any way you just need to confirm you are on correct SH.

Should be OK I guess. I think certain section of NH218 till Bagalkot are bit rough. Goa-Karwar-Ankola-Yellapur-Hubli is an amazing road. But once you start being near Hubli traffic is a bit on the higher side.

They work like a charm.
Its always good to have GPS and coupled with map my india or google maps its mostly very accurate.

We used it on for route navigation from Candolim all the way to Hyderabad, through belgaum - bagalkot - raichur.
In my updated dated 18th Aug (on this thread) I have tried to provide information on the road conditions and also some metrics on the average speed, etc.

Option 1 :
Hyderabad - Zaheerabad - Humnabad - Gulburga - Jevagri - Bijapur - Bagalkot - Belgaum

Option 2:
Hyderabad - Jadcherla - Mahbubnagar - Raichur - Bagalkot - Belgaum

I drove till Zaheerbad on 8/Sep/2013 and the condition of road is pathetic. It is drivable till Sangareddy and then a deathtrap. So really worried to do the same stretch again. Would prefer option 2, provided roads are better.

Option 1:Roads are bad till Homnabad.From there on the State Highway is in good condition,if you are taking option 1,why would you go back to Bagalkot from Bijapur,instead continue straight towards Sankeshwar-Amboli-Sawantwadi-Mapusa-Panjim.Unless you have a reason to go towards Belgaum then your route is correct.

Option 2:There are no real bad sections,just some potholed sections around Raichur is what I heard,other than that no problems whatsoever.Irrespective of the route budget for around 10-11hrs of drive.

The real death trap will start from Zaheerabad till diversion to Hanumabad , Road till Zaheerabad is OK compared to this stretch. As i told before 20kms here took almost 2 hours, can make in 1 hour if you are on big SUV.

We were earlier discussing about a variation of option 1, and the following came out as an alternate (considering a lot of ours preference to Gulbarga -> Bijapur stretch):
Hyd -> Pargi (near Vikarabad) -> Kodangal -> Sedam -> Malkhed -> Gulbarga -> Bijapur -> Bagalkot -> Belgaum -> Chorla -> Goa

Follow the quote above for details, haven't tried it yet, looks good from feedback though.

SH20 seems to be non existent after Bagalkot town and just before Industrial Area as per Google Map.
The route suggestion as per Google Map seems to be through back alleys.
Can you please mark out on a map the roads I need to take for bye passing or crossing Bagalkot while coming from Lingasugur and going to Belgaum.
