i watched the movies Full Metal Jacket & Enemy at the Gates during the weekend. Both of them are war movies and both are excellent. FMJ is about the Vietnam war and EATG is about the world war II.

Jackie Brown

Saw "Jackie Brown" today thanks to Hydra.

Was very nice, similar to Pulp Fiction. I understood this more than Pulp Fiction. The unexpected ending was great!!

Any other good movie along the same lines?

Good to know you enjoyed it. But then, with Jackie Brown, that was a sure thing

Most of the movies in the "Con-movie" list posted earlier will fall in the same category.

The two Guy Ritchie movies Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels & Snatch are a direct fit into this category. The 51st State (Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Carlyle) is as enjoyable. LayerCake (Daniel Craig) is along the same lines.

Then there is Rounders (Matt Damon & Edward Norton) which is not as much in the same category, but involves mostly card playing and a bit of conning. Old movie that is not very well known, but very enjoyable.

Also posted earlier: Blood Simple and Fargo from the Coen Brothers: Somewhat related genre. Not crime as such, but murder, cover-up, murder, cover-up and so on.

Dead Presidents is an excellent movie that can fit in here. It also falls into the gangland genre and to some extent, into the vietnam war genre. Takes a bit of time to start getting really interesting, but it is a very enjoyable movie. Except for Terrence Howard, I don't remember the names of the other actors. Nearly all-black cast.

The Assasination of Jesse James by coward Robert Ford

Amazing Cinematography and Background Music score!

Brad Pitt as Jesse James shows his exemplary acting skills and tells us that he's a LOT more than bloody good looks.

A true story about the very first American outlaw and his murder. Sounded to me like a boring movie especially since the climax is there on the title itself. The catch of the movie's success is in watching the movie.
Must watch for movie buffs, western and Brad pitt fans.
My rating : 4/5

Finally complete the movie.."shoot em up'.

Took me 3 days to be able to sit & watch the utter nonsense being depicted in the movie. I thought it was a good action movie, but finally I feel its the Hollywood version of a 'Rajnikanth' movie. No offense meant to hardcore fans of the superstar, but I really felt like I was watching an English remake of one of the superstar's movies..

I have no idea what the director was thinking of,to come up with such a stupid plot. As for the action,hmm...the less said the better. I was cursing myself for holding onto the movie for over 3 weeks, and not packing it off as I got it from Netflix.

Arrgghh!!! Please don't waste time watching the movie! If I had to rate it,it'll have to be in the negative. How does -3 out of 5 sound?

PS: Not any consolation, but the moive has Monica Bellucci.

hehe..you bet! I can't believe people actually make such lousy movies. No head,no tail forget the body.. The movie's got nothing to it.
I guess I really need to screen every movie I put on my list. I had some good ones, but thanks to a wife who's hooked to Food network, there's not much time left for me to catch up on good movies.

As for Race..I'll wait till its out on DVD. I can't stand watching all the 'bakwaas' that goes on in all these movies, not at the cost of $9 a ticket.

Excellent Movie! It is not that much of a drag I think Casey Affleck (Robert Ford) did as good a job as Brad Pitt.

There are some scenes with Brad Pitt where he doesn't utter a word or move a muscle (except very subtle change of expression in his face), but he can transform the entire mood of the scene/room with just his eyes, the way he sits and the oh-so-subtle change of expression on the face. The "legend" around Jesse James says that he could actually read peoples' minds. The elongated scenes of silence in movie really make you feel as though Jesse James (through Brad Pitt) can read the minds of the others he is staring at.

I'd rate this, Unforgivable (the Clint Eastwood one) and Dances With Wolves as the best westerns made in the last 20 years. Tombstone, Wyatt Earp and 3:10 to Yuma (the 2007 one) would be the next best, in my book.

Read the reviews. Didn't seem to be that good.Kay Kay as usual has done a good job,and Rahul Bose is average.

We'll wait for Gautam to give us a review..

Watched shaurya. The first half is a drag. The movie picks up steam in second half and you are actually eager to see what happens next, but the climax is dissapointing.
The movie could have been much better than it actually is.
But definitely worth a watch. Its based on "A Few good men".
