Loot Kaand on Mx Player.

It is a simple and stupid story. The acting is just about ok. Nothing really stands out. The editing is messy, the timelines are not very clear.

BUT.

It is a fun show and I completely enjoyed it.

The grandma plays a small role but was too good. The football champion kid is someone to watch out for.
Tanya is very cute and her relationship with the idiot brother is sweet.

Overall, a very good timepass show.

Need recommendations for movies and series in Hotstar. Preferred languages are English, Hindi and Bengali. But good work in other languages are welcome too. I have heard there is very good work coming out of Southern states. Plus there may be gems in Korean and other international languages.

Watched Season 3 of 'Reacher' on Prime. Complete timepass & decent fun! Though felt earlier seasons were better.

Where to watch - Apple TV+

Just finished season 2, and I'm quite blown away. It feels like one of those rare shows that just keeps knocking it out of the park. I mean, who knows if they can keep this energy going into seasons 3 and 4, but right now, these first two seasons are seriously awesome. The whole setup just feels... perfect. Not in some fancy, over-the-top way, but in that genuine "I can't stop watching" kind of way. It's just really, really good television.

It's interesting how the TV series is consuming the book content and adding it's own touches; so have a watch and do comment
Read the summaries for book 1,2. Watched the season recaps for season 1,2 and then watched Season 2 Ep8, which I thought was very well made.

Started watching Season 3 and I have to agree with your inputs, S3 Ep4 is a pivotal episode that is very well made. As I watch, a lot of details are coming back to me, keeping me interested in the series.

If you havent read the books, I dont think there is enough in the show to keep one hooked to the screen. While the cast seems to be getting into the grove, I think the story and screenplay needs to be tighter if the makers want to bring in new audience.

My son just started reading Eye of the world will be interesting to discuss this with him once he is done.

The house of David (4/5)
Streaming: Amazon Prime

A wonderful recounting of the biblical King's rise from an semi-outcast shepherd to the King of Israel.
The excellent cinematography brings to life the times in which the story unfolds. Most of the characters are depicted in a nuanced way and show different perspectives, however the enemies barring the giants are shown in a uni dimensional way. Highly recommended if you enjoy historical fiction.

Note: The David vs Goliath clash is yet to be streamed.
The last episode I watched was till the Goliath decides to align with the Philistines to avenge his mother's murder.

This is not a completely accurate depiction, there have been liberties taken in the interest of dramatisation. A disclaimer is there at the start of each episode. A new episode is added every Thursday.

Superb watch - highly recommended for people who have the inclination for such shows.

Cheers

The season started so well, and ended up underwhelming just for the number of times they said 'Teresa' in the episodes

First 2 seasons were very good, because they didn't go on this side excursion.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Watched 2 webseries over the long weekend.

Kanneda

Streaming: Hotstar.

A very average web series, nothing great on story, acting or good music. I thought atleast there will be good Punjabi Rap but was disappointed.

Rating: 1/5

Paatal Lok

Streaming: Amazon

I expected an even more gripping story in the part 2 but there was nothing at all. The acting was also very very ordinary, although must appreciate for the exposure the cast from Nagaland got for this web series, they did quite a decent job. Still got a couple of episodes left and I am rethinking whether to watch as there this nothing which is making me to see the end.

Rating: 2/5

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

I watched Reacher season 3 over the weekend.

After reading all the reviews on this thread, I watched with low expectations but ended up enjoying it. As someone mentioned, it was a complete timepass. While watching, you do find many loopholes, but overall it was a good watch.

I also found the latest season better than season 2 (perhaps I am alone with that opinion here)

The 'Day of the Jackal' was sheer genius. 4.5/5

An absolute masterclass in cinema making, perfectly edited with absolute skill, this series took me on a roller coaster ride into the world of 'supari killing'. The central plot, masterfully helmed by Eddy Redmayne, is expertly woven. The stunning conclusion ended in a surprise, indeed. Don't miss this one.

Does any of the OTT apps have "The X-Files" in their catalog. Quick google search says it is in hotstar but unable to find it.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Has anyone seen this show called "Still Game"

Its a Scottish sitcom about 2 retired widowers, best friends who are irreverent, drink lots of beer and get into all sorts of trouble.

Easy going, slow Scottish humor. Even though the show is in English, I need the subtitles because some of the words and pronunciations are typically Scot. It's probably an acquired taste but I love it

I just finished season 3 and I am hooked.

Cheers!
