Watched Rush, on the plane back from Singapore.
What a film.

The portrayal of the extreme rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt, was truly fantastic.
Excellent movie.

Captain Philips. A very nice movie. Normally, I dont like movies much, but this movie made me love ships more!

Very nice acting as if the actor has been consumed by the role offered. This is applicable to all actors IMO. Be if discipline forces or sailors.

Pawn-
A good one time watch. Story is simple of a diner robbery gone wrong.
Rating - 3/5

The Hunger Games: catching fire-
I was expecting more from this one. The pace is a bit slow and drama is more than action. Nonetheless was entertaining except for climax which was very abrupt.
Rating - 4/5

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Watched some of the Oscar Finalists again. Here are my thoughts on the ones I have seen:

American Hustle: Funny, with great performances from Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner - 8.5 / 10

Gravity: Still playing in Bangalore after almost 4 months . The visuals are easily the best in a long time. - 9.5 / 10

Captain Philips: Another great Tom Hanks role. An excellent thriller - 7.5 / 10

Dallas Buyers Club: Dramatic yet touching. Matthew McConaughey is outstanding - 8.5 / 10

Her: A funny yet thought provoking piece of relationships in the modern day, about how technology shapes our lives - 8 / 10

Wolf of Wall Street: May not deserve all its accolades, and will disturb some. Yet is a guilty pleasure. Wickedly entertaining - 7.5 / 10

Will probably catch 12 Years a Slave tomorrow. Heard great things about it, but as of now, I would pick Gravity as the movie which should win the Best Picture and Best Director Oscar.

Lone Survivor 4.5/5. Fantastic acting and amazing depiction of fanaticism and humanity in the same movie. A must watch.

In the 90s, there was movie called Hero. A very powerful cast, Dustin Hoffman, Geena Davis & Andy Garcia. I liked it a lot, used to watch often on my VCR. Don't have it anymore.

Excellent movie.
If you have watched Rush, another excellent (and somewhat similar) movie that you can see (if you have not) is `Senna'. That is a documentary but highly rated.
Sad that Rush could not get much in the awards season.

Did not particularly liked this one and it wasn't much funny either and the climax was predictable. An overrated movie if you ask me.

Watched The Lego Movie yesterday. 9/10!

Laugh riot from the beginning till the end.
Kids, adult, almost everyone were falling off their seats laughing hysterically.

Must watch if you like animated stuff. Hope part 2 comes along soon!

Watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and man it is an awesome movie!

Nobody but Ben Stiller could have pulled it off. Cinematography is topnotch, I found it better than Gravity. I'd give it 5/5 any day and twice on Sunday.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Got into Liz Taylor nostalgic mode and watched two movies of her over the last week
1. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf
2. Cleopatra
3. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Virginia Woolf: a bit loud but an excellent watch nevertheless.
Cleopatra did not get very high reviews but it certainly it is an excellent movie though long at 4+ hours.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is based on a play by Tennessee Williams though not strictly as moral sensibilities about same-sex relationships meant that some things were brushed under the carpet. Still an excellent movie and bears a lot of resemblance to some of our Hindi movies.

With this done, plan on watching A Place in The Sun and Butterfield 8 soon. Thanks IMDB.
Plan on
