Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Fast & Furious - 6 (3.5/5)

Nice action movie. Didn't have high expectations hence enjoyed it thoroughly. Read somewhere on the internet that racing aspect puts a ceiling on the number of audiences and hence car driving ability is just one aspect of the film. Loved the scene after credits.

Hangover - III (3/5)
I liked earlier parts than this one. The 'missing person' element is missing in this part. I particularly like the characters of Alan and Stu. I didn't see the end credits, looks like I missed something.

Definitely not worth it. I would recommend Mama when compared to this. Few chilling scenes.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Hangover 3 !
Like the title says, i'll give it 3/5.
Thank god it's not as predictable like the 2nd part.
This thing is totally different & we see the same ol' man child Alan.
It's kind of good but i felt something was missing badly. And Ken Jeong wasn't as good as he was in the first part!
Overall, it was OK. But, an epic end to this awesome Franchise! And, dont ever miss the Post credits Scene!!

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

I recently got to watch "Space Odyssey 2001" after finding time. I had heard lots of praises and good review about it but really didnt find it worth anything. Sheer waste of time.

My feelings exactly! The best part about 7 would be Jason Statham; besides the cars and the crazy stunts, of course

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Killer elite:
Statham and De Niro
Mostly statham.

This ones set in the 80s, and these guys are black ops specialists/killers.
Deniro gets taken in after he fails a job, and statham has to finish it.
The targets are ex-SAS guys, with clive owen thrown in as another SAS fellow trying to stop and kill statham.
All action, but not typical statham, mostly since its based on a book.
Highly engrossing, and if you cant get tickets to FF6 , can be enjoyed with equal joy at home.

The Expatriate:
Aaron Eckhart as an ex CIA operative , working independently, when his employer vanishes, and targets him and all the other guys for termination.
The rest of the movie is about him running around, killing people, with his daughter in tow.
Why you should watch this?
ok ok action, but it has Olga Kurylenko!!

3/5

Watched End of Watch

Brilliant movie, Its about 2 Law Enforcement Officers(LEO) from South Central Los Angeles area. But what it really shows is how tough is the life of these LEOs & that they are just like any other person in a different job in their personal life.

Great direction, good storyline, keeps you hooked. Has it scary/funny/witty/gross moments. Some scenes are certainly not for faint hearted & overall not suitable to be watched with kids as it has lot of Profanity in language.

On a side note, my admiration for Jake Gyllenhaal is growing with each movie of his that I watch, I mean he plays such diverse roles with such ease in Brokeback Mountain, Love & Other Drugs, Source Code & End of Watch. So no matter what the role, he is a pleasure to watch.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Intouchables: Movie about a man who is disabled from his neck down who keeps a boy from a poor family in the projects in france as his helper. The entire movie is in French but do watch it. Will open your eyes towards to suffering of a person with disabilities and also what not to do when your around them.

Spoiler alert: There is a brilliant MASERATI in the movie. This could get you watching.
3.5/5

Mama: Usually stay away from Horror movies but was kinda forced into this. This is more creepy variety than scary. About two kids who are found after 5 yrs in a cottage and the way they hav become mentally and also that they received someones help to survive.

its just weird and after sometime your not too scared but the kids who acted in this are brilliant!

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Saw Hangover 3 yesterday. I liked it a lot - It was not a typical hangover movie - there were less punches. All characters were kind of serious and Mr. Chang had a greater role to play in this movie. I enjoyed it a lot and will miss this series. Some one told me that this would be the last installment in the series.
