I don't take chances with my mechanical HMTs with regards to water-proofing. They are never taken out during monsoons. Just wind them once every week during the rains and keep it back in the box

Re: Which watch do you own?

Hello guys,

Anybody having an idea regarding SEIKO Prospex Diver watches??

I am currently inclined towards that series and not able to decide a model. My preference is towards automatic.

Any leads would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Which watch do you own?

After subscribing on this thread and reading more about gshock watches I am planning to buy one for myself.

I am interested in one with a step counter. I liked the analog one more than the pure digital ones.

I found the gba-800 series on net.

I have 2 queries regarding this -

1. I am a well built person with a broad wrist. Will gba-800 be suitable or should I look for some other series?

2. Considering the fact that this was launched in 2018, are there better updated models launched recently?

Thanks.

I personally like Citizen and Seiko diver watches. The bulky flashy bold watches.

If you are looking for real divers and planning to go diving with the watch then Prospex diver models will stand the test of the waves but if you are simply looking for diver looking cool watches then go for Seiko baby monster variants. The baby monsters will have 100m water resistance and will not have screw down crown hence they are not true divers but their price tags will make you click the damn “Buy it Now” button in an instant.

Here is my Seiko Baby Snow Monster

Re: Which watch do you own?

I have two of them. One a Solar and one a mechanical automatic with the 4r15 movement. Very good quality and good looking watches but usually on the heavy side. I've posted about both earlier in this thread. Now even the Alpinist models are coming through the Prospex collection. Would definitely recommend them if your budget allows you.

Good luck!

The Prospex series are professional grade divers watches, which are built like tanks with great designs, 200M of water resistance, clear and legible dials and of course, Seiko's traditional blazing bright luminescent markers (my abslute favourite part). I personally own the Seiko Samurai (Pepsi variant), and have been enjoying it for the past couple of years. Absolute beast of a watch. This employs an Seiko 4R35 movement, which is automatic, hacking and hand winding, and keeps time pretty well as well. Most of the Seiko divers employ the 4R35/4R36 movements. which are considered to be very reliable and workhorse movements which will serve you well for decades.

You can consider the Prospex Samurai - it comes in a wide variety of dial designs, so lots to choose from.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Hey folks,

Added a nice dress watch to my collection. Have been in Japan for work travel and was hoping to add another Seiko JDM to my collection - my current collection has a Seiko SARB017 JDM and a Seiko 5. However, the prices at the stores were very similar to International markets. Still was looking at the SEIKO SARY111 due to the unique shape. While hunting for a good deal, came across this Citizen eco drive and found it difficult to resist. It has a sapphire crystal and is only 4.7mm thick.

It cost me around 15k INR and comes with a one-year international warranty.

Looks to be a replica/homage to the Patek Philippe Calatrava, ver similar other than a few design features here and there. Considering that the Calatrava retails at many thousands of dollars, at INR 15K this looks to be a good pick. Perfect watch for a dress ensemble

Need Advice:

By mistake, Sprayed mosquito repellant spray on my Casio wrist watch (Rubber body) while camping in the woods.

It has turned into almost greyish/whitish finish now. How do I get the layer off my watch?

Tried a couple of household cleaners unsuccessfully.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe rub it gently with a couple of drops of nail polish remover on a cotton swab?

Re: Which watch do you own?

Last week, sitting in office out of boredom was looking at some affordable mechanical watches to add to my bucket list. After looking at a host of offerings from Seiko, Orient and some upstarts across Europe , opened the website of HMT watches just to look at them. Saw a Pilot in stock and ordered without giving it a second thought, in hindsight it was a good move since it went out of stock the same day.

The watch was received in two days and is a prized possession now. Having always worn watches on the larger size , I initially felt that the svelt 36 mm dial to be on the smaller size but after wearing it for sometime it feels perfect on my wrist.

The gloss black dial with a domed acrylic crystal is a beautiful sight , the applied steel HMT logo adds to the look of the dial. The red second hand adds to the sporty characteristics that the Pilot name deserves and the name of the watch itself written in a retro font looks great and adds a stem punkish vibe to the dial. The lume on the hands and the hour markers are decent , yet to test them in pitch black conditions.

The steel bracelet that accompanies the watch is decent at best, planning to replace it with a slim tan or black leather strap with a butterfly clasp.

Overall, for three thousand rupees the watch is a beautiful peice that represents an era gone by and is something that I am planning to use as a daily driver due to its compact dimensions.

That looks great

Is back in stock today right now as I type and have ordered one as well.

There were quite a few models available in the morning along with the HMT black pilot, this is available in new uploads section. There was an HMT Sona YD also available but id out of stock.
Currently HMT grey pilot, black Janata and blue and saffron Kohinoors are available which are among the sought after models.

Just went to the new uploads section, and presto, this very watch is still in stock. Ordered it after seeing the nice photos that you have posted. I present wear a Gen 2 Orient Bambino as my daily wear with formal office clothes, and have been on the lookout for a good dress watch in a smaller size. If it is a 36 mm watch then this should be perfect fit. Eagerly awaiting delivery now

By the way, is this a mechanical or quartz piece? Also, how do you find the build quality. Traditionally HMT watches used to be pretty bulletproof, curious how the quality is nowadays. Not a fan of the metal bracelet either, will swap out for a nice tan leather strap as soon as it knocks on my door.
