Thanked: Once

Houston(Texas) to Orlanado (Florida) 960 miles (1500kms) one way, did it in about 14 hrs. I was not driving thought as I did not have my DL (USA) then.

The longest drive I have driven was from Las vegas to Grand canyon, 600 miles (1000 km approx) up and down covered in a single day and I was the only driver with three other friends . Took about 6 hrs each side.
Fantastic drive, loud music driving most of the time at 90 miles (140 kms) and dead straight roads.

In India not driven much, planning on to driving from Bangalore to Goa, along west coast line...hopefully

Longest : Cochin - Goa. Was when I was just 18yrs old probably. Dont correctly remember the time taken. Distance travelled was around 950kms in Maruti 800 5-Speed MPFi. Mileage I rem correctly as 19kmpl .

Fastest : Bangalore - Cochin 575kms in 9hrs. Start time : 1030pm. Destination reached at 730am. Incl just two haults for black coffee and a screaching stop when a road suddenly ended while racing with a OHC @140kmph. Oh boy the OHC which was behind me, badly crashed, though I braked safely on my Esteem. Have done the route more than 4 times atleast.

Other trips:-
Cochin - Madurai Twice
Cochin - Ooty Twice
Cochin - Mangalore Twice.
Cochin - Munnar 6 times
Cochin - Silent Valley
Cochin - Calicut more than 10 times.

hey what did u mean by avg speed = 100 ? i hope it was the speed 'maintained' most times on ur odo rite? Maintaining an avg speed of 100kmph in real mathematical terms is close to impossible on normal roads in India.

Hey so why not we find out a max avg speed (Mathematically) in this thread!

My figures:-

1) Esteem - Blr - Ekm, 575kms in 9 hrs. So mathematical avg speed 575kms/9hrs = 64kmph avg speed.

2) Pulsar 150 DTSi (on a harthal day) - Adoor to Cochin 135kms in 1hr 40mins = 81.3 kmph avg speed

3) Pulsar 150 non-DTSi - Calicut - Ekm 200kms in 3hrs => 67kmph avg speed/

The longest non stop (other than health breaks) that I have ever been is around 1000 miles. We went from Denver, to las vegas via grand canyon. It was quite an experience as the 2 drivers with me were first time drivers and i was not in a position to drive. I was navigating the whole time. One of the drivers managed to do a 540 on the interstate. It happened around midnight and about 400 miles into the trip. After recovering from the initial shock, we kept going non-stop. thanks to the empty roads we were unharmed.

Right, that was the speed which I maintained most of the times. I feel that figure is also important because it gives an idea to other drivers on what kind of speed can be maintained on the stretch with out taking risks.

Mathematical average speed for me was around 67KMPH. Lower due to the fact that a 100 KM stretch (Tenkasi - TVM) was a ghat section.
