Longest Drives!

Mumbai - Goa ( via Mumbai - Pune - Bangalore highway) beautiful 6 lane highway. Monotonous drive, just like any other expressway. Distance is more than 600 kms . Honda Civic.

Mumbai - Goa ( Mumbai - Goa highway ) through Konkan with towns like ratnagiri, chiplun etc on the way. Extremely scenic all along and fun to drive with single lane roads on each side and 2 amazing ghats ( lote parshuram and kashedi ) and they are now expanding the road to 2 lane each side. tough task i must say. distance - 600kms
Honda Civic & Hyundai i20 1.4 petrol

Done Ahmedabad - Mumbai as well but its not 600kms. Around 550kms.

Longest Trips

Chennai ->>> Gokarna (Near Goa) - 11 hours (once) - Qualis.
Chennai ->>> Pampa (Sabaraimala) - 12.5 hours (thrice) - Qualis.
Chennai ->>> Shringeri (Via Horanadu) - 13 hours (once) - Qualis.
Chennai ->>> Vizag (stopping at Vijaywada) - 11.5 hours (once) - Qualis.

I did Amritsar-Delhi-Amritsar in one day which is approx 1000 Kms on NH-1 in my gypsy king,then i've done Nasirabad(Rajasthan)-Delhi around 420 kms on my bullet std 350 with my brother and friends in june last year and about every fortnight i drive to Hoshiarpur in Punjab from Delhi which is 410 Kms sometimes on 4 wheels and sometimes on bullet.

Back in 1996 I rode my Shogun from Mulanthuruthy,Kochi to Sullia, Karnataka and back in 2.5 days (~780KMs) for collecting my Certificates

Longest drive -Home(Payyannur) to Chennai (via Bangalore) and back
1500kms ( in 2 days -approximately 13hours each way with one hour break)
Done on 24th January 2010 on my Fiesta,.

The single longest drive which i did was

Delhi to Pehelgam & back for Amarnath Yatra - 2008 with my Scorpio all loaded with 7
people & stuff for all of them in June 08 - 3000+ kms

Route was - Delhi - Jammu - Pehelgam - Srinagar - Sonmarg - Srinagar - Gulmarg - Pehelgam - Jammu - Delhi

Longest drive in single day - 1100 kms in 23 hours nonstop

Pehelgam - Jammu - Ambala - Yamuna nagar - Karnal - Delhi

Started at morning 5 reached next day 3:30 am.

2007 - Delhi Amritsar Delhi 1300 kms round trip (2 days)
2008 - Delhi Mumbai 1550 kms one way (2.5 days of driving, 2 nights of rest, 0.5 day sightseeing in Udaipur :-))
2008 - Mumbai Goa Mumbai 1300 kms round trip (2 days)
2010 - Planning a Mumbai Hyd Bangalore Mumbai circular trip... let's see how it pans out.

Just went through this website called londondelhibyroad.com put up by an Indian couple based in the UK. Interesting route they are taking for this trip. Could be interesting read as their plans progress.

If cabs are counted
"Bangalore - Mysore - ooty - Kodaikanal - Chennai Airport", dont remember how many kms, but then when I reached back home to New Delhi, I finished a bottle of tiger balm rubbing my arse..

Stayed overnight at each destination, and the ride was a chauffeur driven Tavera..

Self driven is 700 return trip in my zen, 135km/hr max..
Went to Delhi - Dehradoon - Mussorie - Dehradoon - Delhi
4 friends with 4 case full of beer..

longest drive -

US: 600+ miles in 21 hrs. from Jersey City - Washington DC - someplace in Maryland - Jersey City. Includes multiple breaks (total 7-8 hrs). Dont remember what car. Never crossed 70mph.

India: Bangalore - Pune 900+ kms in about 17 hrs (includes 2 hr break) through the night. Included some very bad roads to excellent, well marked and with reflectors on the road. Car - Honda Civic. Touched 140kmph. Killed a dog accidentally :(

Longest Drives

Jan 2010 - Thekkady - Salem - Masti/Malur-Anantpur-Hyderabad. About 1100 kms in total. Time taken 22 hours with a 3 hours stop for servicing the car as well as a couple of other general / site seeing stops. Car - Innova Vx

October 2000 - Hyderabad-Vijaywada-Machilipatnam-Bantumalli-Vijaywada-Hyderabad - 20 hours and 900 Kms . Car - Fiat Uno 1.2 ELX

August 2005 - Mumbai - Pune-Hyderabad - About 750 Kms in 14 hours. Car : Baleno Lxi

March 2001 US : Terrytown / New York - Niagra Falls/ A bit of shopping excursions - Back (No Overnight stop apart from a couple of hours blip in the car) About 900 Miles ~ 1500 Kms. Car - Chevy Impala (3.0 V6 I guess)

1. Car: Bangalore to Goa and back with only pee breaks. Had to go pick my friend who had broken his leg and couldn't drive back.
Around 1200 km in around 18 hours. Wild Drive!
2. Bike: 1200 km western ghats area 3 days. Awesome fun.

The longest I have driven on a trip was about 3600 km on a road trip from Windsor, Ontario to Peace River, Alberta in November 2008 in my Mitsubishi Lancer I used to own.

I drove through Ontario-Michigan-Indiana-Illinois-Wisconsin-Minnesota-North Dakota-Saskatchewan-Alberta. It was supposed to take me 3 days, but took me 5 days instead, as I was stuck in a snow storm in North Dakota. This is the route I took:

Bangalore - Goa (785 kms/ One day)
Bangalore-Velankanni-Kodaikannal-Thrissur(Kerala) (1075 KMS/ 3 days)
Bangalore - Thrissur (Kerala) (465 Kms/ every 2 months i used to go...)
