I have done abt 3 long trips

1. Chennai - Goa Return (Approx 1200 Km 1 Way) - Brilliant trip cause I actually got to use the Golden Quadrilateral all the way. Was travelling to goa for the new year so had a whole bunch of friends with me. As a result, I was able to maintain an average speed of 70 thanks to the number of frequent breaks for sutta and coffee.
2. Mumbai - Pune - Mahabaleshwar - Kolhapur (450 KM 1 Way) - Actually very good road, even after the Mumbai Pune Expressway, the way towards Kolhapur on the GQ is concrete all the way. There was heavy rain while I was driving and it was a bit scary at the time, but all in all very satisfying road trip.
3. Chennai - Kodaikanal - Munnar (Approx 700 Km 1 Way) - I do this once each year.. the ghat sections are really awesome.

The longest road trip i have ever had was from Saskatoon to Calgary a few years ago. Distance covered was about 650 klicks. Vehicle used was an old Oldsmobile Cutlass. This was to go and see the Calgary Flames play the Mighty Ducks in the conference semi finals of the NHL! Too bad the local team lost! Ah, pre-college days!

1. Hamburg-Frankfurt-Amsterdam-Gothenberg(Sweden)-Frankfurt : Approx 2200 miles in 10 days! Loved the Autobahn - Had rented a 525d and hit 250kmph (Auto-limited).

2. Toronto, Ontario - Ft. lauderdale, Florida : approx 1500 miles in 2.5 days! Beautiful drive! Saw 2-3 'twisters' in S.Carolina, 2 speeding tickets and almost 500 Harleys on the road at 1 time!

Whoa! 2 speeding tickets? What was the fine like? Did they suspend the license for the second offense? And 500 Harleys , that must have been quite a sight! Any chance of pics?

My longest drive was from Delhi to Calicut (Kerala) in my Merc G-wagen covering around 3000kms covering 7 states, 3metros & various terrains. I've already prepared a travelogue of the trip: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...s-g-wagen.html. Please read it.

I've also driven from Mumbai to Calicut (1250km) more than 10 times in life in various cars like Merc C200 CDI, E250, Fiat Palio, Exteem, Gypsy, Fiat Uno, etc.

amazing the love people have for their pets - its a heartening thought in this otherwise horrible, callous world that we live in.
Thanks for the heartwarming encouragement. I was amazed, humbled and deeply moved to feel the overwhelming sense of empathy people shared with both of us as we zipped cross country. The warmth and support we encountered every inch of the way, made the whole gruelling drive so enjoyable. For that kind of goodwill I would gladly circumnavigate the globe ... indefinitely!

My longest drive in a single day has been:

Delhi-Ahmedabad (930 kms) in 12 hours flat with 2 petrol breaks, many pee breaks, a breakfast break, a lunch break+tea, about 6-7 toll breaks of which 2 took about 10 mins.

Did this trip in April last year with my whole family, touched 170kmph on NH 76 before Bhilwara. On NH 76, i completed 110 kms in one hour Sweet Highway.

The complete trip was Delhi-Ahmedabad-Mahuva-Diu-Somnath-Gir-Junagadh-Mt. Abu-Delhi.

The trip lasted for 5 days & covered a distance of 3000 kms.

OT: Also, when you move from Mehsana to Mt. Abu, there was this highway construction going on by L&T. The toll plazas weren't functional & it was dead straight. Amazing Highway. Can I have any updates!

Drivers: 2 Me & Dad
Car Used: Aveo 1.4 LS
FE: Appx. 16 kmpl with AC 100%

I suggest you create a new thread to discuss your experiences related to that drive. My salutes.
