BTW does anyone know how much would Raj Bhavan Road / Somajiguda circle be affected with the road blockages as it will determine whether I'll be able to come to office or go to PVR for afternoon show :P

Please do confirm whether PVR will be open on Wednesday - I do remember that it was closed on immersion day (was it last year or last to last year?).

Venu Sir - when will the water dry up or be removed from the water logged lane at the Katriya turning? It is pain wading through this water since there is this one huge pothole lurking in those waters and it is a much bigger pain using the other lane (TVS) due to wrongly parked cars.

God knows when they will clear that stagnation on Katriya lane---it's been nearly a month. And yes, there is a deep cut that runs diagonal to the road where the water stagnates. They filled it up a week ago, but it has caved in again after the recent rains.

I am avoiding that road and using the Suzuki lane instead, despite cars parked on that narrow lane.

Most theatres run only evening and late night shows. I doubt if PVR will be open as Ganesh idols coming from Banjara Hills, Ameerpet have to cross Panjagutta crossroads.

Ani, cancel your tickets if you have an option as i can foresee you losing your money.

Parking Charges at InOrbit Mall:

Effective 15th September, InOrbit Mall is charging Rs. 20/- for 4 wheelers and Rs. 10/- for 2 wheelers for Parking.
This is a flat rate unlike the insane parking charges at GVK One!

(And I was wondering, why there are so many vehicles parked on the road outside InOrbit & ILabs and making the road narrow? )

The traffic cops can have a gala time here if they wake-up!

That's a nice idea! Will try to click a picture next time I go that side!
I did not add / will not add them on my Facebook and give them access to my personal information. (Last time I checked, they had a FB account and not a Page! Is there a FB page now? )

Yes they have a page now. What I could figure out is that the officer responsible for this initiative is fumbling thru his steps on FB.

BTW from responses I also understand that the initiative is being handled by the office of Addl. Commissioner of Police, Traffic. You can reach them thru the following emails as well.
  1. trafficpolicehyderabad@yahoo.co.in
  2. trafficpolicehyderabad@hotmail.com
  3. trafficpolicehyderabad@rediffmail.com
Cheers

Huge traffic snarl today

Seeing ominous clouds gathering on the city side from my office window, I bunked office at 1540 hours today, but it had already started raining by the time I reached Inorbit Mall.

Despite the heavy rain, it was smooth sailing till the vicinity of MLA Colony near Rd # 12. It took 20 minutes to cross that small lake on the road near the bus stop.

Another huge bottleneck was encountered at the Panjagutta flyover---this one took 15 minutes. I guessed that the bottleneck was opp the CM's camp office, right beside the Greenlands flyover. Fortunately, I could take a U turn near Rajiv Gandhi circle and go to Raj Bhavan Rd via Hyd Central and Kapadia lane, which had smooth traffic.

Overall, it took me 1 hour 5 minutes to reach home instead of the normal 30 to 35 minutes.

With the lovely drizzle, I took off from office around 4:15 PM. Decided to ride via the Tolichowki road.
Had to get a new battery for my bike. So stopped over at the Reliance auto zone. Its a lovely place, do check it out sometime. Bought a nice pair of gloves at the discounted price of 150. They fit very well.

Left Reliance only to find a lot of water all around Tolichowki Crossroads. Since I was in my bike, it was not a big issue. Managed to ride thru without touching the road with my feet. The level and force of water was quite high. But about 5 to 8 feet of the road close to the divider was not under water.

Next jam was at Masab Tank xroad.

Today was one of those rare days i was in my "Kappa" and it is surely a lot fun for a change as i realized it actually takes me less time to reach a destination in a small car as this small baby moves like no other.

Started from Gachibowli at 7:00pm and reached home at 8:05pm. 5 minutes late for my call

Out of 1:05 hours, i spent 35 minutes from Taj Krishna to Himayathnagar.

Sometimes i feel small cars still rule the city

The new page of Hyderabad Traffic Police is available at :
Welcome to Facebook

You can click the like button to add them.

This is very different from their earlier style where they created a profile and wanted public to add them as friends which was not the acceptable and correct method. Thanks God they realised it early and shifted.

The new page Information reads as : Online Social platform of Hyderabad Traffic Police on Facebook. Post your Grievances, Suggestions, Feedbacks and Participation interest in various initiatives of Hyderabad Traffic Police. Website : http://www.htp.gov.in

Amen to that! The old 800 was a boon in the narrow Bengalurian roads.

By the way, with all the waterlogging I wonder how the immersion proceedings will go today. I'm WFH courtesy of the lake in front of my place - expecting huge traffic jams in the Miyapur/Lingampally areas today.

So long as the devotees don't mistake the waterlogged roads for the actual lakes we should be fine .

Regards,
spadix

This song is dedicated to the lovely weather, we are blessed with today.

Its going to be an amazing ride back in the rain. Just wrapping up my laptop in a plastic bag to keep it safe. Helmet and raincoat on. Let me fall in love all over again.
