I use my parking lights in Bangalore City on the well lit roads, no headlights. Is it against the rule?

Well, seeing is believing! I've driven through congested roads in Mumbai and Delhi and found the drivers to be far more disciplined.

Because some concreting is happening on the elevated highway, there is some deviation in Hosur road near Bommanahalli. You have to climb over to the service road. The service road is at a height atleast above a feet and the ramp made to go into this cannot be used because of the height and mad blocking by the vehicles.

Moreover buses and other big vehicle cross over this at some speeds and come straight to you. Seeing this any faint hearted will get a heart attack. Hoping that this gets over by march 2009 as promised.

Well, i think that is how one is supposed to drive on roads with Sodium Vapour lights. You never know, a hungry cop could feast on anything.

I'm not sure of the rules..but for safety its better to use your headlights in low beam. Its important to be SEEN as well as being able to see others. Among powerful headlights, others may fail to notice your parking lights much like how people on the roadside become invisible when you're facing a powerful beam.

On highways if one observes (atleast off-late), most lorries stick to one lane. There are cases where they switch lanes, do not use indicators, etc; but, most of the drivers are uneducated\illiterates but that they have common sense hence they stick putt to their lanes.

Education does matter, it is the same education that ruins people in terms of common sense and helps them become more callous and atrocious!

Coming to the point: Off-late unlike the olden days, we have more number of "educated" people ruining our day\ride\drive, hence i think we can afford to ditch the concept of "if an uneducated\illiterate does this\that it is okay, how can an educated\literate" guy do this?"

Bottom line: Jerks are jerks they are a class apart, one does not need to be educate\uneducated to be one (jerk) .

Also the fact is that, you are blinding some already on lowbeam coming behind the bad guy.
Very valid point. I immediately take care of that by putting on the low beam as soon as I cross the vehicle on high beam.

Today morning Electronics city phase 1 junction. A call center sumo rear ends a brand new mercedes C class. Saw the 2 parties fighting it over on the side of the road.

Yesterday the same thing a Sumo did to my car although it was a very small nudge which did not result in a scratch. I confronted him and he said nothing happened so what's the problem and it was my fault as I did not move ahead with the traffic. Didn't bother to fight and just drove off after blocking him a couple of times.

Traffic on Bomanahalli and silk board flyover has become really bad over the past few days for some reason.

Atleast from the ring road side, the traffic has increased because the Maruthinagar main road is closed due to some repair work being carried out by BBMP. As a result people are going via the silk board junction.

These are the never ending work. Once they started work and closed the road forget about it for next 2 years. Atlease in JP Nagar 5th Phase the ring road is closed for last 7-8 months with no sign of improvements.

I was on my way to drop my wife to her office in Electronic City this morning.

Took the shortcut from Sarjapur road. There is a particular stretch which has about 5 humungous car breakers. While all the vehicles including mine were clambering across these slowly, and in an orderly fashion, a dude in a gold Zen (old version)with the high security number plates and alloys decides his Viagra dose has finally just become effective and decides to create havoc.

He rips and tries to cut across me. I block him from doing so.
He tries again, i block again.
Finally, he drives like a maniac and goes and nearly edges out another happless motorist from the road, who ends up giving way.

I can understand if he was in a genuine hurry, but these stunts were performed by him after he was inching along the road r e a l l y s l o w l y, even slower than an authorickshaw with no passengers. After all his histronics, he gets onto Hosur road, and his r e a l s l o w drive continues again.

To top it all, he comes and glares at me while i am waiting before the turn into EC phase 2. The only reason i didnt show him the finger is because my wife was with me.

If you're reading this, dude.. go get a life!

Benny ! Such morons plying on Bangy roads have become the order of the day. Driving safely is a far cry for such demonics and many folks have the guts of looking back squarely @ you even on committing a fault while driving, let alone being remorseful. Good that nothing untoward happened and damn such morons and BTW happen to come across them in every nook and corner of the city. When will they ever feel responsible ?

On my way to office yesterday morning (whitefield) the traffic at the KR puram flyover was crawling. I was behind this guy in a Maruti 800 with big "L" stickers and wearing a handsfree. All of us were crawling at a speed of about 5-10 kmph in stop and go traffic.
The traffic stopped moving and we were waiting for it to start. This hero in the 800 was looking all around him not bothering to see that his car was slowly moving backwards. I noticed and honked to let him know to no avail. This car hits my bumper with me constantly honking to alert this guy. Even after this he doesnt bother and gives me a "please fly over my car gesture" and tries to cut lanes to get ahead. I just lost it there and chased him and knocked on his window and gave him a glare and gestured asking him what did he think he was upto. This guy acts all innocent and looks at me like its my fault.
I controlled myself and just let the thing go before I totally lost it.
Spoilt my mood for sure.

Yesterday morning's drive tp my office in EC was a pleasure through Hosur road. So I decided to take the same road back instead of the Neeladri Park road that I take regularly to reach my home. Near Singasandra, a lot of work with regards to the elevated express way was completed and I saw something that shocked me. The barricades that have been screwed on the road to demarcate the main road and service lanes was being scaled by some "gymnasts" to get to the service road. All he had to do was walk a few paces to his right and then cross the road instead of jumping over the barricade. If this is how the people living along Hosur road plan to cross the road, then god save them.

Just got a message from ACP traffic about not to drink and drive on 31/12. The message reads something like this "Don't let new year celebrations get dampened by rash and drunken driving. Don't drink and drive. Have a safe year ahead-Bangalore Traffic Police".

Its a good way atleast to remind people not to drink and drive atleast tomorrow. Way to go BTP. ;-)
