Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

When phase4 becomes operational, we can start off at 9 from home and head right for lunch when we reach to office.

BTW, which company has cabs/Tempo Traveller transport with numbers like T-xxx inscribed in a green oval ?
There was such a TT yesterday , I think the number was T-711 , who was really driving like a nutcase on the Mezza9 route. Driving on the wrong side, almost hitting other cars while trying to bully his way back in etc.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

@mmxylo: Lol, that probably would be the case!

@Sajo: Was it a Travel Time TT? One company in DLF (not mine!) uses TT's as transport services.

Today morning, all was going well, the 3 lanes were actually 3 lanes unlike 5/6 that we see everyday. Untill, one smart alec (needless to say, a cabwallah) jumped in between and chaos began. If we do stick to the 3 lanes, the traffic would be a lot organized. When will we learn?

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

^^^ I was on leave y'day so no drive . BUT, it's still a 5 day week from today.

Orange Alert! - The road surface is in an improved state with gravel and grit used for patching the really big craters.

Took me 10 mins this morning from NH4 to HJW chowk.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

*Alert*- Passing on this message from @anilisanil

Work has commenced on the Wakad section of the bypass and the traffic jam is apparently miles long. Anil U-turned BACK towards Aundh because he couldn't see himself joining the logjam headed Southwards on NH4 bypass.

Please check status with those already on the road before taking off. The Phase 3 route may be a good idea today.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Yes I also saw the massive traffic pileup on NH4 right from Wakad. Couldnt take right turn on the highway towards Chandani chowk.
Took the flyover straight to Aundh, Pashan and then Bavdhan.

Noopster : What work are u referring to? I thought it was an accident.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Thanks guys. I take the bus so have no control over which route to take.
Do you mean to say that there is no way traffic is moving on NH4 ? And hence is better to to go straight towards Aundh ? Traffic within Hinjewadi seems pretty clear at the moment.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

A couple of colleagues have left by company bus. will call them in about 10 minutes to get an update.

An alternative is to drive to Aundh via the Mezza9 route->dange chowk->Aundh Ravet road.

Edit : Colleagues are already at Chandni Chowk, faster than usual! All izzz well....

Are you sure it was an accident? I inquired a cop there, he told me that repair work started and so did an auto wala.

BTW I did a lot of off roading today! Took the right towards Baner road as I knew there was a road connecting and ended up off roading unto Baner so much so that I took a left expecting to reach Balewadi flyover, but went in the opposite direction, then took a right to Pashan road and then to Bhavdhan!! But all this took just about an hour, that is when I left office by 4:30!!

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

It was probably work that was being done. Evidence could be seen today. Some patches are being covererd up. I left office at 9:00PM last evening, and was home by 10:00PM. Took the regular route , over the flyover. No problems whatsoever.

<broken and stuck tape>
Okay, so they were fining people going on the wrong side today morning. Did that stop people from trying? No.
Inspite of being warned by their erring brethren who were made to turn around, dozens of men and women continued to cross over to the wrong side.
No amount of petitions or road widening or increased entry and exit points are going to help our folks until we instill a modicum of traffic sense in the HJW janta..

whats the fine? 100 bucks or 200? you know what will get their goat?

step 1: make it a % of vehicle OTR cost. 5% for 2 wheelers. 1% for 4 wheelers.
So a Pulsar will have to pay 5% of say 70000 = INR 3500 for this violation
A Jazz will have to pay 1% of say 7L = INR 7000 for the same violation

step 2: wheel lock/ jam the offending vehicle and leave it on the roadside for 72 hours at owners risk. Insurance companies should be informed to check vehicle offense history with RTO before admitting claims. A couple of dents worth a few K and no one will try this nonsense again

the very idea of traffic fines should not be to keep them affordable but preventively high. if the fine is linked to our vehicle cost people will either
- think twice before violating traffic norms, or
- use smaller vehicles thereby reducing traffic congestion

wait till I become the dictator of RTO or maybe all of India
now this one is a broken and stuck tape too!

Well said and I agree whole-heartedly. Unless the fines are increased by 10-20x, the habits will not change.
