Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Our hero cop seems to have shifted his focus and no longer concentrating on avoiding people coming in from the wrong side.

Today he was standing at the foot of the flyover and all the 6 seaters and bikes had a field day. They started from the wrong side right from the Indian Oil petrol pump But the icing on the cake was a police sumo coming in from the wrong side and merging in to traffic. Now if this happens it is difficult to blame the other motorists.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Amit, what would be more worrisome is - some local, using his political connections gets this cop transferred out of HJW. That is when real problems may start.
Today as you rightly said, he was near the foot of the flyover, trying to control the traffic at the merging point.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

^^You guys thanked him too early.

Next time, try to ask him why he isnt continuing what he was doing correctly. Perhaps there is some cartoon higher up in his hierarchy who thinks this is more important.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Last evening, getting out of HJW was a breeze. The road from the main chowk till the flyover had NO traffic whatsoever! I was out of HJW in 15 mins flat. Dont know the reason why, but did feel nice.

I know you are happy because it happened on your way out. I doubt you would be as happy to reach office early

Overall traffic seems to have normalised as people have returned to using two wheelers so most cars seem to have been parked at home. Even Deccan side was relatively blockade free yesterday evening and this morning. Any spotting of your hero cop today?

Hero Cop was again at the flyover today and as usual all the regulars were at the wrong side.

Last night left office at 7.50 PM and was home at 8.35 PM. Could not believe my watch.

Bala, if it happend today, I wouldnt have been upset. You see its a Friday afterall!
But yes, traffic does seem to have normalized a tad bit. Probably, since the rains have receded, people have moved back to two wheelers.

What time was that? When I cam to HJW, the hero cop was at the main chowk. No wonder, the traffic at the main chowk was absolutely systematic (at that time).

Also, the Petrol price hike is probably playing its part.
Enjoy your Diesel ride Swanand!

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

A lot of companies have some rules around daily time in office or working, if you will.

Mine does.

If only these companies offered a flexibility of working some % from home and a core timing (say 11-4) mandatorily from office - one would get the flexibility of commute when traffic is less and fulfill all rules/guidelines.

WFH - 8:30 to 10:30
Commute 10:30-11
WFO-11-4
return commute - 4-4:30
WFH - 4:30-6:30

How about that?

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

@mmxylo: My company has no set office time, as such. You can come anytime, as long as you finish the set number of hours (that again is not monitored seriously. As long as you finish your work).
But yes, like I had said sometime back - WFH must be made compulsory, at least 2 days in a week. That would take care of some traffic at least.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Surprisingly less traffic today on my way in at around 10 in the morning.
And as far as I see it, things are pretty empty right now on the main HJW road as well as Mezza9.
There were absolutely no cops in sight today morning. Maybe their day off ?

Did not see any cops today as well. Looks like our hero has given up on Hinjewadi folks. Its like a dogs tail. Till the time he is around people follow the rules and as soon as they have an inkling that he is not around folks are back to their old ways.

Looks like he has been reassigned.

Pic from Pune mirror from the Kalyani Nagar area.

Don't think he is the same guy. The guy in the pic has a paunch and our hero is quite fit. Also one important thing is missing. The stick in the hand.
