Pondy does have some usual touristy attractions that we can cover - Aurobindo ashram, the beach road, Auroville etc. Maybe even Chunnambar would be nice to visit. We should definitely cover these places as part of the meet.

Sounds like a good idea, if you can please pm me your bank details I will do the transfer. Also what is the time we would be leaving from here and coming back. I know these things cannot be written in stone, but at least a general idea would be great, have to report the same to my home department.

And when you add john, vikram and the 1-ton brothers to the equation + the heavyweights from Bangy and others from Chennai like fiery_enzyme, bottle etc, I think Pondy is going to run out of liquor.

Leave Chennai on Sat 30th after lunch - say 2PM. Reach Pondy by 5PM. Next day, we can leave for Chennai by evening (4-5PM).

Thought I might come up with a tentative plan for us Bangy Boys.

Here it is:

30th August 2008

06:30 AM - Assemble outside Dakshin Honda Showroom on Hosur Road
08.00 AM to 09:00 AM - Breakfast at A2B after Hosur
10:30 AM - Regroup at Uttangarai - Tea Break
11.30 AM - Regroup at Tiruvannamalai - Tea Break
12:30 PM - Regroup at Tindivanam
1:00 PM - Check in the Resort, freshen up and Lunch
2:00 PM to 5:00 PM - Rest, sightseeing, get drunk, swim in the ocean - choice is yours - waiting for Chennai Annas.

31st August 2008

1:00 PM - Check out
3:30 PM - Regroup at Uttangarai - Tea Break
7:00 PM - Regroup at Hosur, say good byes and go home.

What say guys?

We had originally planned on reaching Pondy in the evening and returning next day evening. But then, we were not expecting Bangy to join the meet and Bangy being double the distance from Pondy than Chennai, a late checkout from Pondy would mean their reaching home too late. And everyone has to go to work next day.

Bangy guys, given the driving time between Pondy-Bangy, what is the latest that you can leave from Pondy, yet reach home at a comfortable time ?

Chennai guys, what is the earliest we can leave on Saturday ? Is everyone OK with reaching Pondy for lunch (say by 2PM or so) ? Or do you want to stick to our initial plan of leaving post-lunch ?

Note : I am just trying to work out an arrangement where both teams land up at the same time at Pondy, instead of one group waiting for the other.

Sorry missed the initial plan but we could meet up at 10:30 or so and hang around till everyone joins or maybe even have breakfast and leave around 11:30 or so and reach Pondy by 2 for lunch. Even if lunch gets a bit delayed the late breakfast should tide us over till then

Bangalore guys can probably start a bit early say 7 or 8 and should be able to arrive at the same time if the distance was as mentioned 300kms .

I am ok with reaching for lunch in Pondy. But would prefer to leave a little early on sunday, say to reach home by 5-6 in the evening. I have a prior engagement on that day in the evening. But if leaving early on sunday is not OK with others I am ready to go with the flow. No issues at all. Majority wins

I might join in with another couple, but can't confirm as of now, will try and make my own arrangements for stay if I decide to join in late.
If I come, it will be me + wife + another couple. Total 4 adults.
Planning to leave Bangalore on the 29th evening itself so that I get a full Saturday at Pondy.
Hope I can make it.

Bangy guys, what do you say to driving out on 29th evening itself?

Else, I can always return to Bangalore with you guys.
