Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

Thank you both. I knew that we didn't get as good a deal as Europe, but it is better than I thought

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

We have booked a Polo TSI, we are seriously considering the annual maintence contract being sold for the term of 5 years. Does anyone know the actual price for the TSI ? Is it worth it ?

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

A bit of a depressing time for me.

While reversing I ended up grazing the RHS tail lamp of my polo against a wall and it got cracked.

I have got a few questions.

a. How much will it cost me to get a replacement tail lamp from the dealer?

b. Can I get it as a single piece or do I have to get one as a pair?

c. Can I source genuine OEM Tail lamp from outside? What will it cost me?

d. Again, do I have to get it as a pair?

e. If I can source it from outside, how will I make sure that it is a genuine VW product? Is there a code or part number that I should look out for?

Any suggestions will be of great help guys.

Answers :-
a) Left side 1800 and right side 2100 ( including taxes Pune )
b) You can get it single piece, you dont need to buy it as a pair.
c) No you can always buy it individually.
d)There are part numbers . I will have to check mine to give you the exact number.

Rejoy

This has been immensely useful. The pdf on squeaking is a problem my colleague is facing on his two week old Vento Tsi. The problem was there from delivery day. Some things are impossible to catch during pre delivery inspection.

The spanner icon and INSP come only when you have either completed the kms or the no. Of days i.e. roughly one year. In your case both of them are still left.
I don't think you need to worry about it, your Polo has to go for its first service next month anyways, also there is no harm in getting it done a couple of weeks earlier, that will keep you away from the risk of voiding the car's warranty.

You need to press the left side button (the one which has 2 windows made on it, refer image) thrice in order to see the number of days as well as the number of kms after which your service is due.

Re: VW Polo - Maintenance and Service cost and dos/don'ts

Anyone has an idea regarding the cost of changing the windshield washer fluid hose pipe. Mine got bitten off by the dreaded rat.

Also would it be prudent to get it done from FNG or from VW workshop?

The car had just run 3k kms then and I fought hard to avoid changing the fuel filter as it was not mentioned in the service manual. They gave me some argument about the 'Indian conditions' but I was not convinced. Finally, the manager there had a face palm moment when they realized that this is a Petrol vehicle and they only suggest changing the fuel filter for Diesel cars.

Now my car has run approx 10k kms and I will be giving it for the 2nd service on Monday. With my previous experience, I want to be really careful. The SA told me that this time they will replace the spark plugs (3 of them) in the 2nd service (approx Rs 1,000). Is this really required for my usage? I haven't checked the service manual yet, but wanted to check with the experts here.

Also, is it advisable to take the extended warranty?

Any advice is highly appreciated. Thanks!
My car had its spark plugs replaced at 6k Kms at 2nd service.
By the way, it was covered undered AMC, so i didnt bother asking if it was really required.

I did this from a regular accessories shop (Autocop model) but stopped using it since past 1 year. I am not sure if it is a mis-configuration but it kind of behaves erratically. The whole central lock makes a big fuss if I unknowingly open it manually after having locked it automatically. It would not lock again and at most cases the indicator lights start blinking at double rate when I put it on to take a turn. So finally gave it up. Did not want to take it to the accessories guy due to fear of him frying up my ECU

Do let me know if VW agrees to your request in case their policies have changed.
This erratic behavior i have noticed regurlarly in my father's i10 also which has autocop installed. So, i know now this is an autocop problem! Till date my father is living with this problem (never use the car keys to unlock or lock).
