Great work.

What all products, DA did you use and procedure you followed? If you could detail it, it would be very helpful.

The 50/50 pic, its more like a 40/20/40 in which the right most side is comparatively better than center whereas as the left most is absolutely brilliant. How many passes of DA have been done right most and left post panel in the pic.

Thanks.

Thanks. I dont have a DA, all the work was done using a SKIL rotary.

This was a one step job done using Meguiars Cut n Finish + LC Orange pad on the rotary. I did another pass with M205 + W8207 but it didnt help much. LSP was Meguiars M21 2.0

For the 50/50 pic, I pasted three strips of masking tape but while doing the passes I crossed the three strips and so you get the 40/20/40 look.

These pics were after only Cut n Finish one step, its a DAT compound so had to do enough passes until it broke down. Pics in first post is with LSP

Question on claying

I was claying the car using ONR (using a much stronger dilution than one recommended for just washing) as lubricant. Two things I noticed; the clay in spite of being well lubricated with the car body, was still not spongy/soft; I wonder if it is the quality of clay bar!

Secondly my car is parked right under a tube light in covered basement car park; on the roof the car I noticed tiny black dots, resembling insect eggs stuck to the paint rather firmly. They did not come off even after claying.

Any suggestion how to deal with this? Any suggestions for better quality of clay bar obtainable in Bangalore? I do not want to spend a lot of money using Meguiars or any other brand's quick detailer as clay lubricant. In this forum only I picked the idea of ONR diluted solution as lubricant

Cheers

What clay are you using?

Run your fingers over the black dots, are they under the paint or over the paint?

Can you elaborate more on the spongy part?

If they are black spots, they might be tar. Some stubborn tar aren't removed by clay. Try some wd40 on it.

Thanks Sunnyboi! The small black dots are on the surface, come off when I rub slightly with my finger nail. That's why I wonder why the clay would not lift them off. I sort of got them free when I bought them from Eco car care. In fact I keep
them stored in airtight box in which it came. Should I get something different as I have a chance of someone coming from
USA in a month or so? Or try the same clay with more ONR lub? I obviously do't want to scratch about 2 square inches of roof
with my nail Yes when I said not spongy, I thought the clay will be more like wet clay used by potters, may be little
more dense but loose enough to pick stuff on the surface, no?

Thanks again n Cheers

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

Upgrading from the Eagle One Superior Nanowax, I tried the Meguiar's Hi-Tech Yellow wax on my Vento. Satisfied than the Eagle One liquid, which did loose its viscosity with time.

When it drizzled right now. An inspiration to wax the car more frequently.

Re: A superb Car cleaning, polishing & detailing guide

So my friend out of impatience got his car done from a well known car care place. Two weeks later he just calls me to his house on how to maintain the car. This is what followed. Ill let the pictures do the talking.

As you can see its beading very well from the previous "so called" detail.

The true story was only revealed after the wash - defects galore.

Just for fun Can anybody name the type of defects seen here?

Out of curiosity, did a test spot for him. After a test spot 50/50

My friend had spent a lot on the previous session and was really sad after seeing the defects. This kind of shabby work really disappointing on such a beautiful car.
Thankfully he has now taken the initiative to care for the car himself which makes my effort totally worth it As I had checked his car today after a month almost and its still in good shape.

I think more and more people should be educated about the basic car care steps - like washing and QDing so that atleast we get to see less of eyesore on the road. Inducing defects can be minimised with these basic steps like using a microfiber towel, good wash mitt, and lsp safe shampoo. Introduced him to waterless washing and he is loving it.

Thats an amazing finish! what have you coated it with?

I have recently heard sad stories of 3M bangalore also which was really surprising but then I guess 3M is now more interested in making money using their brand name only, least concerned about customer satisfaction!
