If you are going for Pearl White, be cautious about older pieces.
As per dealer they pre-order Pearl White only.

Only after you do PDI, make the full payment.

  • Rear Monogram placed at correct position, however I checked at home LX monogram is not fixed properly. I will fix it myself with QuickFix carefully, otherwise it will fell down.
I have opted for front fog lamps fitting. Fog lamps are fitted but KHT did not have 2 way switch in stock. It is pending now and fog lamp is not working. I need to procure 2 way switch from outside. I want 2 way switch because later I will fit rear fog lamps too. So, both fog lamp shall be operated with single switch.
UP: Front fog lamps only.
DOWN: Front + Rear fog lamps.

Total bill without switch: 3114 Rupees.

It is ridiculous that OEM fog lamp switch (As of EX+ Models ) does not come separate. If it goes bust one has to change entire center console, costing 3500 Rupees.

Is there any place where I can source OEM fog lamp switch from outside?

I will search OEM look alike switch for fog lamps at JC Road, Bangalore. I saw in one of the Santro similar (Push to on, Push to off) external fog lamp switch was fitted from outside. I hope somebody should have manufacturing for Safari too.

1) Allignment of Rear door does keep comming off in the Safari so be prepared to get it rectified at each service. You would come to know of the problem not visually but by Audio.

2) Fog Lights. May times people drive with the fog lights on in conditions not requiring it, the front ones are still Ok and not too much of a distaction but the rear one are quite irritating for the person following.

3) The Safari cost for entire centre console with switch of Rs. 3500 is quite decent. Though it would have been great to have the option of changing just the specfic switch. Of course they would do the needful while it is within warranty.

4) Suggest you actually change the entire console and go for the standard EX Switches with the standard wiring (they have the fog lamps wiring incorporated even into the LX - just don't populate a switch.) In the long term it would be best and would be more reliable. The Electricals are the one aspect where the safari needs to be taken care of and getting work done outside is a sure way of getting an incorrect bit of wiring done. (bypassing the ECU and relay systems.) This later leads to battery drain and other issues.

Pearl White was not available in Lx atleast till december last year. Tata claims without bumper paint, the colour wont suit. But i personally think its a gimmick to push a customer to Ex variant since pearl white is best and most sought out colour for a customer to give in.

Yes, since yesterday my rear door started rattling. Before first service it was not there. Only lock issue was there.

I have fitted only front fog lamps and not rear. Not keen on fitting rear one as of now. Only made provision for that. Although wiring for rear fog lamps already present.

But what would be the option if one's warranty expires and one of switch in center console gone bust. He need to spend 3500 for this.

I will be retrofitting EX switches in LX console. I arranged from TASS itself but not from Bangalore. I know some mechanics/service advisor at Nagpur and they will arrange it. I will fit it in TASS iteself. I am planning to go Nagpur in near future (Not for switches but have other work there ). Those mechanics are more than 10 year experienced with Tata cars and I have good relation with them. Current wiring and fitting done by KHT only with proper wiring and relay.

Hi Blackbeast,

Do you ever able to catch such Pearl White Safari LX because as soon as I got my vehicle first thing I would do is cladding paint for body color.
Also I'm bit confused how far it will be good. I'll be happy if the final outcome is as good as Anuj Safari.

Regards,
Camon

This is very nice piece of info. I think sooner or later I need to go for it. Let me first check what KHT will do on Saturday.

Any comment you have for Pearl White Safari LX? Also how much you spent for this job?

I just dont think LX comes in Pearl White. My dealer told me so. And have never seen one on the road also. But Arctic White LX, yes.

hey.

AFAIK the pearl white is not an option on the LX. only on the EX and upwards. there is a pure white (not sure what it's called) on the LX...possibly as a further incentive of getting people to plonk money on the EX version, simply for the colour...

all the best.
cheers,
ak

2K Kms Update

It took little over 1 month 10 days for me to complete 2K Kms in my Safari. There is no problem at all after first servicing and KHT SA taken care all of my complaints during first servicing.

Now there is no niggles or rattles present. Earlier back door was rattling and one more visit after first servicing removed rattling completely. Engine appeared to be more smooth and city driveability improved a lot after first servicing. During my first long trip to Tirupati I felt engine was getting strained while attaining 100KMPH speed. Now it looks "opened up" and no feeling of strain. After first servicing frequent changing of gears in slow moving traffic is also improved. Gear shifting is butter smooth, no sticking to any position. Please note, I have not changed the engine oil during first service and planning to stick to prescribed duration.

My second long trip not getting materialize due to various engagements at office. Need some decent amount of leave for that. Waiting for right time to hit the highway again.

FOG lamps fitted into bumper but I want its beam little uppish (Little less than low beam of headlight). I do not know whether focussing up or down possible with fog lamps or not. Can any one throw light on that?

I will put new set of pics of my Safari soon in this thread.

Daily enjoying ride on my Safari with feeling of reclaiming life

Logo falling (Or vandalism) on prowl

I am experiencing Logo falling or vandalism with my Safari. Earlier X of LX fell down. I really suspect as L and X are joint together it cannot fall itself. Somebody must have removed it. I replaced remaing L with LX at the cost of 68 Rupees.

Now 4 days back ri of Safari is missing from back. Again it was not disjoint letters. Either it should fall whole logo or nothing. It looks like somebody knowingly doing this with my car . Only Safa is remaining at back. I will change it coming weekend.

Oh boy.... Not sure what to say. Are you parking at open areas or at covered lots? IMHO, you should put visible deterents like steering lock etc.

Vandal all around! Some people just get the kick out of damaging others property for no apparent reason!

Go ahead and de-badge your vehicle or leave it as it is. Don't replace it immediately. The faster you replace / correct the damage the more the fun is for those things to damage it again. Let them lose interest.
