| ![]() After having used the Michelins, and now moved to the Falkens - Surprisingly I would admit they seem to be almost as good as the Michelins. So I wouldn't spend the extra. But it remains to be seen how they age. |

BANNED | ![]() I ve been thinking. It will be time to consider a tyre change for my Yeti around March 2016. The car would probably have done around 35K Kms by then at the max. It is now 4 years old. The reason to change the tyres is that they are slowly hardening and I believe that while I can still run another 15K Kms on these as the treads are in good shape and I ve maintained them carefully by doing the alignment and balancing etc every 5K kms in a diligent manner, I would still wish to change them on account of sheer age. I want to go for those Bridgestones because of the horrible broken Bangalore roads where I don't want to risk a tyre made of a softer compound. Hence the Bridgestone thought process. Im wondering about a slight upsize now my vehicle will be out of warranty. I want a slightly increased ground clearance and yet do not want to compromise the driving dynamics of the vehicle. Basically I want a set of slightly higher set tyres but which are quite fat as well, so as to provide excellent grip. The other factor is toughness - I want them to last another 40K Kms. Which ones to buy? And in what size? And where should I be looking to buy these? Saving some money is a consideration for sure and I see no reason to spend 10K per tyre if I can get an equally good tyre at 5-6K per tyre. However, I won't compromise on quality at all. I ve looked at SnapDeal - and these are what I have found. Any kind advice from you all out there will be greatly valued. Last edited by shankar.balan : 24th November 2015 at 07:18. | ![]() Shankar 215/65 is the size to look at. And your best options are Michelin Latitude Tour HPs or Falken Wildpeak HT. The Falkens are cheaper and almost as good. Both are supremely tough, and trust me Bangalore roads with a careful driver such as yourself can do no harm to them. I've taken them on rough trails made of just stones and rocks, without a single issue. The Falkens were about 4k cheaper per tyre, and in hindsight the Michelins were a bit better, but not 4k a tyre better. |

I think I will consider these Falkens then! They seem to be around on Snapdeal but I don't know how long the stock will last. Saying that, I m not in a hurry right now so will take a chance... Tell me, what about 225 Size? Will they fill the arches better? But they seem to only be around in 225/55/16 or 225/50/16 which won't do...any options on 225/60 or 65/ 16? Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() I would wholeheartedly recommend the Falkens Wildpeak HT01 in 215/65 R16 which I have had on my Yeti for almost 3k kms now and they are well behaved and have a nice tread. They are also quiet on most surfaces and rugged. The reason why they are much cheaper than others is that Falken had a 3+1 offer at launch and hence the low price. This offer may end soon and they would normalize the price to around 9k per tyre. I would suggest that you get the tyres changed to falkens Asap as they are worth it and if the offer ends the price would become much higher. Last edited by Behemoth : 24th November 2015 at 22:06. |

| ![]() found this on Falken india website. They strongly discourage from buying tyres through e-comm websites. i have inquired with a local dealer mentioned on falken's website. he gave me a quote of Rs. 6550 per peice for wildpeak HT and only weights for balancing would be additional at actual. |

BANNED | ![]() For my proposed Tyre change on the Yeti: Any suggestions on 225/65/16 Size? First, does this size exist? Second, is this an acceptable up-size/ upgrade? Third, while I do believe there is a size like 225/60/16 or even 225/55/16, I am specifically looking for a Fat Tyre which also has a higher sidewall and which is tough enough to take the bad Bangalore roads, yet comfy enough in terms of ride quality and noise less operation etc, which is why this query. Given that Falken tyres has put out that notice, I think I will just go to a dealer and buy my tyres whenever I upgrade. In the meantime I'd love to have some info relating to the above questions. ![]() |

BANNED | ![]() Today I saw some MRF Wanderer Tyres - 215/65/16. They say these are being used for XUV, Nissan X Trail, Renault Duster etc. They cost Rs 7470 per tyre. Im wondering how good these are in terms of ride comfort, noiselessness and of course toughness and grip! Any comments would be welcome. ![]() |

| ![]() The Skoda service center owner here in Patna has been recommending them to me. He also runs buses and trucks, hence the recommendation. Last edited by Carcrazy60 : 29th November 2015 at 14:43. |

So I think that I want good road manners and a good ride quality. I also want if possible to reduce the road noise. And I definitely want toughness and overall long lasting tyres. Basis the feedback above I think I will buy these MRF Wanderers. But I will look for Apollo Accelere Sport too. Just one question - I do want a fat looking tyre. So between Apollo and MRF which profile will you recommend? Does the 55/60 profile tend to look significantly fatter than the 65 profile? Or not? Please do take a look at the attached screenshots too and share feedback.. Last edited by shankar.balan : 29th November 2015 at 18:46. Reason: Pictures | |
