Thanks for a rare post from you here, Rush.

The Austins and Morrises are becoming rarer these days. In the 1980's when V & C Rally's used to be reported in The Indian Auto Journal and even later by Auto India, in the early 1990's, there used to be a sentence many a times "The Morrises and Austins were present as always". These cars used to be omnipresent by the dozens in any big V & C event, but not so now.

These days the sentence can read "The Ambassadors and Fiats/ Premiers were present as always."

A few pictures from a Pune Vintage car show about 10-12 years ago.
The last picture of the '54(?) Austin not from the show.

All picture credits to Pranav Athale who incidentally is the kid seen in all these pictures

Thanks for sharing - this is the Amby Valley run that started simultaneously from Bombay and Pune, converging at Amby Valley Lonavala. I went in a 60s Jaguar S Type, and returned in a 39 Buick. This must have been circa 2000-2001. The red Austin Healey Sprite has since moved to Hyderabad, a superb car. The Jag XK120 moved to Jaipur, and the SS100 I'm told also moved to Hyderabad.

The fifties Mercedes-Benz Ponton, bearing registration "BML/7841". Well, does'nt it belong to the Poonawalla stables?

Cheerio!

If you mean the car in Ajay's post, no tis certainly not a Vanguard but indeed a Yank tank- a late 40s Ford Super Deluxe V8! And it looks like a Tamil movie.
The same car (then in green) seems to have been used for another Tamil movie "Paiyaa", earlier:

Tis a 1948 Standard Deluxe. Difference between this and a 1947 is the rear trunk lid chrome and the little medallion above the grill. So now it is a movie celebrity.
