These two beauties are almost identical twins . Are they different year models, though ?

The differences are 1 . The fold down top . 2 . Windshield shape and trim. 3 . Headlight shape . 4 . Front bumper is different.

Are these result of slight customizing or due to different year production ? Beautiful , nevertheless !

Try to check better pictures and you will find that these cars were a bit rough for that time, definitely not Cartier worthy. If you read the Standard Avon thread, you will find that there are two more Avons in India, total 4 of them survive.

This car was in India, seen on Pakwheels. Studebaker I guess?

The front tires look like tractor tires. Are regular tires not available in india for such well kept cars ? Surely it is not a matter of economics for an otherwise well kept
automobile .

Yes, at present importing tyres (even new) for obsolete cars in India is virtually impossible. Please see these posts in this thread for more info.:

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

I was staying at The Aloft hotel on OMR road, Sholinganallur, Chennai for a week last month (was in chennai on work).

Spotted these immaculately maintained vintage cars in the basement parking lot.

I loved the VW bug the most. Clean looking and was being driven around the hotel within the premises every morning for a few minutes.

The big covered car is a vintage merc.

Enjoy the pics.

Tractor tyres indeed. This car was in India before 1947, now its in Pakistan. Apparently wheels have been adapted too. See picture from the side below. Is it really a Study?
Tyres are avalable in India, you need luck, right connections and some moolah.

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

This is a "Jugad" . Score a D for effort ! The resoration is of questionable quality.
1. Car is right hand drive, but the rearview mirror is on the left.
2. This is a 1920 s model. They had bench seats in front and not bucket seats with thick foam cushions.
3. The running boards are very modern.
4. The worst is - the wheels. The rims are oversized , the tires are absolutely unacceptable, they don't match the fender opening. They are on five studs ?
5. The car of this vintage likely had wooden spoke wheels, wire spokes came later.
6. Perhaps under the hood, we may find more surprises.
7. Some Tongas have better canvas tops.
This car is not Vintage Car Rally material.
This is my nickels worth !
