That old bus has a nice smile to it. I remember a whole bunch of buses here in Chennai too in PTC. I fell in love with buses because of them. They used to have a thingy with a red arrow painted in white background which the drivers use to turn on as the indicator to turn right.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Some pictures from the film Shree 420 here. The Chrysler is in a two tone colour.
In the first scenes, the hero Raj Kapoor moves from somewhere near Dewas (M.P.) on N.H. 1 trying to go to Bombay. He encounters a few buses (two Chevrolets) that do not stop. The Chrysler with the villain late Nemo who is Seth Sona Chand, his wife and daughter on the back seat stops, get the hero dragged in and they all presume the fella is hungry. Soon the villain and car occupants discover that Raj Kapoor was only pretending. They stop the car and drag him out, drop him and move on.

Re: Old Bollywood & Indian Films : The Best Archives for Old Cars

Enjoy Holi and also view this song from Zakhmee (1975) titled "dil mein holi jali". The song features Sunil Dutt (heroine Asha Parekh also starring with Rakesh Roshan and Reena Roy) who moves with the crowd across the locality, in a festival mood.
During the last minutes of the song, some Select taxis are seen along with some other cars. A yellow Tempo Hanseat is partly seen. At the fag end, the hero enters a house where a white Merc is parked (partly seen).

Hey Stanher,

Somehow i missed this thread and your post earlier. This movie was made by my grand dad, if you see the complete movie Howrah Bridge, theres a 1953 Plymouth owned by him which features in a lot of scenes. In fact the same car was used in quite a few hindi movies later on as well.

I tried searching family photo archives for some pic of the car but have not found anything yet.

Regards,
VVB

A vintage bike, don't know the model, seems either Matchless or BSA.

I think its a Matchless. Powertwin will be able to confirm.

And here's a clipping I found on youtube of a '60s Hindi movie 'Sawan ki Ghata' with a lovely mk1 Herald in 'Phantom Grey' driven by Sharmila Tagore.

The car has the cheap local aftermarket chrome bumper cappings, found them common on Bombay Heralds.

Much to my chagrin though, she happens to slam down the bonnet carelessly and then sits right on it, without even bothering to latch it shut on both sides!!

Also seen here is a TMB (Tata-Merc. Benz) truck with the bonnet monogram actually intact!

Good catch. That is a genuine 1959 Chevy convertible, very treasured today. Does anyone where this car is now?

Sure a Holden, but I would tip it to be a Torana, a car smaller than a Kingswood or Monaro.

On the contrary, Harit, I think it's larger than a Torana, and a different shape too. Big enough to be a Kingswood Btw, didn't the lines of the Torana bear some resemblance to the early Isuzu Geminis?

Yes!! This Bike ridden by Malayalam Super Star MOHANLAL is a Matchless G3L Pre -war model , but has been modified...it belongs to some regular Car & Bike Suppliers of Kollywood...have seen this bike at another Tamil Movie starring Ajith

My Austin 10 & BSA M20 in Kamalhassan's "HEY RAM"

This was my Austin 10 (1946) before restoration....this particular pic was clicked at early '90 I guess>

This is my BSA M20 (1942) yet to be restored though>>>
Was picked at February 2011, in much more shabby condition,( Now after preliminary cleaning)>

But BOTH THESE Brit TWO wheeled & FOUR wheeled cousins have featured in Hindi/ Tamil Movie "Hey Ram", starring : Mr.Kamal hassan, Miss.Rane Mukhrejee , Mr.Shahruk Khan etc.. ( I request Dr.Anjan Ji to Spell check those names of the Matinee idols )
Now Kamal Hassan riding the BSA M20 & my Austin 10 seen in the frame>>>
Though these scenes are Shot at " Ooty", , but in the story line it is like happening at BENGAL ( Pre- Independence )..hence the license plate has BL etc... )

I still have these rear number plate & some Ornamental rear light, which is not a stock stuff>>

Rane Mukherjee , Kamal & Shell Fuel station

Gosh!! Some Rane Mukherjee Fan's must be lucky to have the Handle bar of my M20

But unfortunately, I parted with my AUSTIN a decade before, this War derived TWO WHEELED Machine Came in.......hm!! All in the Game :-)
