Re: Indian Classic Motorcycles

Does anyone know the whereabouts of an Indian Chief bearing registration number BMY 531. It used to be owned by a friends grandfather and he would like to know if the bike still exists.

I don't know about BMY 531, but coincidentally I just posted BMY 530 here

BMY 530 and BMY 531 are different numbers, one follows the other.

Then the bikes being discussed are a BMW and an Indian. So different marques.

Let us also request for pictures of BMY 530 to be posted to see this bike, maybe interesting for the nostalgic family pictures thread. Where was the grandfather of the friend located? Mumbai or Pune?

Cheers harit

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

Hey Harit, the bike I am talking about is definitely not a BMW - hence not BMY 530 I'll find out more details of the bike and post an update.

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

Today in PreWarCar.com they show a Carden. There used to be one in Gujrat in the 1980's, probably in Baroda or Ahmedabad. The question, where is it now? It was even for sale for a while, and it was quite expensive for its day.

Cheers harit

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

Cross posting from here

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motor...ml#post3246377 (Tribute to the Jawa Yezdi)

BHPian boohooper is looking for his father's Jawa, MSS 6048

Quote:
My father owned a 1967 or 1969 (he is not too sure) Jawa when he was in Chennai. He sold the machine in 1977 or thereabouts. The Regn. no was MSS 6048. It was immaculately maintained. It was Black in colour when he sold it.

What i would like to know is, if there is anybody in this forum who owns this bike or knows the whereabouts of it. My Dad would love to see his first bike if he could. Could you guys help out?

It can be managed and few of our yesteryear jeeps (Ford, Willys, Kaiser) still have old number retained.

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

This 1966 Chevrolet Nova used to be a part of Film City, Mumbai. This car has appeared in many Bollywood films.
My friend had bought it in the 1980's.It was LHD, auto transmission and with its original 6 cylinder engine.
Unfortunately my friend passed away about 9 years back. The car was grounded and was rotting. His family members were keen to dispose it off as it was decaying.
The car was sold about four years back to someone in Delhi.

Would any member be able to throw light on the present condition of this car, now evidently at Delhi?

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

I think both these cars are different. The Grille is different and with the broad windscreen chrome beading looks more like a convertible. I don't remember having seen this car in Delhi. If you can give me the name of the person who bought it, probably I can trace the car for you.

Both the cars in the pictures are different cars. The first pic is a convertible and the second pic on is a sedan. The registration numbers are also different.

History recalled !

In the late 50s and 60s, Prem Nath Motors, located at Scindia House/Curzon Road, New Delhi showcased an Oldsmobile, 1911-12 . It was beautiful and very impressive car. It was a show model, never saw it on the road or in any of the Statesman rallies. Does any one remember that car and as to what happened to it ?

Re: Where is it now? - Lost & Found Classics

Has anyone of late seen/know about the whereabouts of -

MHN 2191 - A Sixties Willys/CJ3B. Owned by the Indian Bureau of Mines.

My grandfather had her for quite a few years in the seventies/very early eighties. Many have fond memories of her.

She was quite resplendent and back in the day, was in a coat of very gleaming black. Later changed to a lighter colour.

Cheers!
