To my untrained eye, it looks like a a Wolseley Ten (10/40), probably post-war, ca 1946 -1948. It was also produced in 1939, with a break for WWII.

As every lover of a car or an aircraft or a ship knows they have feelings, a personality, a character. You can talk to them. Right. And hell with the rationalists. If you don't agree stop reading right now.

This car has an interesting story. In August 1959 my father was leaving the UK having completed his Govt assignment and returning home by ship with all his baggage. He decided to donate the car to the local Police benevolent fund. The police in the UK being a more professional lot, than our folks here, had him sign some papers and courteously turned up on the morning of the sailing to pick up the car. The general idea being to sell it and put the cash in the fund. As the constable started the car something broke and all the engine oil spilled out. Almost like the old girls heart broke. They towed it away nevertheless. My father had more affection for this lady than any other that he drove later.

That is my mother posing with my father’s 1961 Morris Oxford, which shared the same body as the Cambridge. I was nowhere on the scene at this time - but got to know the car a few years later:-)

The car appears to be a Dodge wagon, maybe from 52 or 54. So obviously not taken in 1942.

I'm in agreement with your choice although it could be a Plymouth, pic is too blurred to make out the grill. I am thinking 1953 either model since Chrysler Motors had been known to take Plymouth bodies, add a Dodge grill and sell it as the more expensive of the two.
